Re: Classic 60s, 70s, 80s RC Birds?
Wow, brings back memories.
Of the original pictures, I knew the first two (Pulsar and Dalotel), had no clue on the radio, and guessed the Kraft Super Fli.
My first plane was a Goldberg Skylane 62 that lasted 6 flights (midair) and I continued training on an Andrews H-Ray w/ OS Max III .15, butterfly exhaust valve. I still have the H-Ray and the OS .15.
I also have a Veco .19 NIB. Our club was having a mall show, and some kid walked up asking if anyone wanted to buy it. I gave him $10 for it. It has the rotary exhaust valve coupled to the carb.
I flew the mess out of a Skylark 56, K&B .40 (perry carb) back in the '70s. I only put 1 inch of dihedral in the wing (plans called for 6") and it flew like a pattern plane.
Other vintage planes I flew: Goldberg Falcon 56, modified with ailerons, OS .20. Super Kaos with a Veco .61. Midwest Mach 1 with Northfield Ross .60. Dubro Shark helicopter, first with O&R engine, later with a .60 conversion. Several Miss Marthas, with Como .51 engines. Royal Cessna 310 with two K&B .40s. HotLines Commanche w/ Veco .61 (lasted 4 flights, wing flutter). Sig Kadet (original design, not the newer ones) 3 channel, with OS .25.
Most of those were flown with either a Kraft Sport Series Radio (circa 1973) or one of several Proline radios that I had, single sticks.
