Default Re: Club Rules

Dude it all boils down to common sense. I've seen clubs make up 5000 rules and those clubs suck. And I been to fields that have no rules and they suck too. I'd run with what AMA has to say and very little else. If you have to have specific rules for your field like noise or no flying on Sunday until after 12PM or what ever do that. But keep things as simple as possible. Another biggy is not letting folks on either side of the fence on this issue get carried away. Committees=politics (most of the time.)

I would do this; at a club meeting find out what field specific rules you need to keep the neighbors happy. Get those, add them to AMA's regs and that's enough!!! Keep it simple to understand and simple to comply with. CLubs who operate like this have a far better chance when officers change of maintaining continuity. The club president changes every year or two but the rules don't. Simple and very easy to keep everyone on the same page.

Above all else use common sense. Use as few rules as you can SAFELY operate your club and EXPECT members to cooperate. Safety, simplicity and common sense should be the battle cry!
