The operating voltage range is 3.6 to 9 volts. The limiting factor is the servos voltage wise, not the receiver. The receiver can handle much higher currents than that. I have not seen very many set ups that require any power box or any other additional devices. Simple is better. I never run power boxes in any of my models.
