.46 size scale aerobatic recommendations!
Alrighty then!
I'm looking to downsize (and upsize at the same time) my hangar. At the moment I'm trying to get rid of any glow planes I have that use over a .61 engine, and I'm also getting rid of warbirds that I rarely fly, etc.
What I'm planning is to stay with small glow planes and get 1-2 larger gas planes (50cc ish), and any warbirds or other scale non-aerobatic planes will be tiny electrics, like GWS size.
So what I'm looking for here are .46 size scale aerobatic planes, anything along the lines of Sukhoi, Yak, Extra, Giles, Zlin, Edge (especially) and other planes of that nature. I don't want to spend a lot of money on them, either (sub $150 per plane unless it's a REALLY awesome airframe).
I'm really eyeing the Phoenix line of aerobats, including the Decathlon, Giles, Extra, and mainly the Sukhoi (never had one... yet!). The price is also attractive, all are under $130 each, which means I'll probably end up with one of each in the end. I'm also looking at Nitroplanes ARF's, like their Edge and Yak, but I don't know anything about their quality or construction.
I know a lot of you guys have flown just about everything out there, so please tell me if I'm missing something!!
I'm not looking for kits, only ARF's, and PLEASE don't tell me that I'll only be happy with a profile plane. I'm probably going to order an OMP Katana V2 in the future, but I want to update my scale aerobatic planes first!
Nitroplanes kits look like they would be able to handle some light 3D along with traditional aerobatics, due to their mostly light (listed anyway) weights and large control surfaces. HOWEVER, I'm mainly going to be flying regular aerobatics. 3D will be left for electrics, profiles, and the giants.
I'm going to try to stay with .46FX, .61FX, and .55AX engines.
Any more suggestions?
Thanks!
