Default Re: The Godfather Speaks. Right here on FG.

Dear Glenn, Thank you for your post and comments. I judged you as well many times at the Nationals and I watch you winning it!
1)good question and difficult answer. Both options are very good and capable to win. I think this is a personal decision. I choose glow for this W/C. As well I flew electric before with good results too. I feel combination glow/biplane balance very well. I also like the sound of the glow and I feel helps to enhance my flying. I enjoy listening to my YS engine, I do not this is very personal. I grew up with engines around, my dad raced bikes, go karts, cars, actually he did make his own car and tuned his engines. I think EC engines are in my blood! but the sound and smell give me more motivations. I feel also glow engine do a better job under strong winds however improvement of the battery shown lately are great and the difference it is smaller. Bottom line I trully believe it is very personal choice and both are valid. I am more to the glow but it is my own and personal choice.

2)Yes I flew 4 blade at W/C as well. Prop is an APC modified by Wayne Ulery. Wayne build his props based on 15.5x12 APC prop. With his own technique of additing carbon and fiberglass he re-shaped and re-pitched the prop. Prop size is 16.2x13.

3)You are ready :-)

Take care and see you next Nats. Quique

Congratulations on becoming World Champion.

You have been an inspiration to me over the years watching and judging your flying at the US Nationals. I would greatly appreciate your opinion and input on a couple of topics regarding Pattern/F3A.
  1. You have competed at the highest level in F3A over the years with both glo and e-power, given the current maneuver trends and available aircraft design do you see an advantage of glo vs. electric?
  2. The last 2 seasons I have been using APC 4-blade props on my DZ-160 powered pattern aircraft, and have recently upgraded to the 170. I noticed at the NATS the 4 blade on your aircraft was a modified APC. I assume you used a similar prop at the WC's. What was the original size and what modifications did you make? What was the value-added benefit of the modifications?
  3. What should one work on who aspires to move from AMA Masters pattern class to FAI and be competitive at the US Nationals?
Thanks in advance...
