Default Extra 300 elevator hinge line

As some of you know, I have been working on a DALTON 300 for some time now. It is not a difficult build, just life getting busy. Great kit.

I have set all my incidences and have my rudder mounted and hinged. I am ready to cut the stabs. Here is where my question comes in.

I would think that the hinge line would be parallel to the stab tube. I used the factory stab base plate that is laser cut and stock mounting that is VERY secure and accurate btw. The plans show that the half inch pieces that make the hinge line go from being flush with the root cap and out to a point on the tip of the stab. If I do that, it will put a slight taper back to the hinge line (3/16) or so from the root to the tip. If I go from the back edge of the root cap to the tips parallel to the stab tube, the tip side of the elevator will grow and the tap area of the stab will shrink by that amount. I used a laser to look at this. I leveled the stab tube and mounted the stabs to it so I could project an accurate line.

Is the plane designed this way? I do not see how I could have built any extra taper into the stabs. the phelolics set the location of the root cap. The shaping process for the leading edge was done with care so as to not remove much material from the thickness of the front cap. (about 1/32) The cores were not sanded and the overall outline of the stab is almost exact to the printed plans. (this information is for those that would wonder about the accuracy of the build) I have matched the stabs to eachother and they are almost a perfect match stood on tip or cap.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance. This is holking me up now as I am running out of "other things" to work on. WooHoo, it will not be long now.

I edited this to add DALTON to the text of the post. You could see it was on the Dalton forum, but I realize that not everyone navigates that way.
