I just took some depron and placed it in the bottom inlet of the cowl to make sure air does not dive under the motor going in. I've flown others with the BME 110 and it was insanely powerful compared with the ZDZ I have in mine. I would suggest if you've already tried to rich-en it up and have baffled it, send it in to BME for service. Sounds like a motor issue.

My engine runs great, no complaint there. The cooling issue is a bit different tho. I never thought baffeling was absolutly critical until I installed an Eagle Tree data telemetry system and saw what was actually going on. When I saw the CHT's rising close to the 340 degree mark during a hover that lasted only about 20-30 seconds, I thought that there should be some way to avoid this high of reading. I then installed a much tighter baffle system, to the best of my understanding in an effort to cool it. It worked, but only to a small increase in cooling capacity. After that I was able to harrier for about 10seconds, transition into a hover and see yet again the CHT's get close to 340 degrees in about 20-30seconds. Normal flying is fine for cooling and it cools off the quickest at full throttle in level flight.
I dont want to cook my engine that runs great and doesnt have a place of service at this time. Just wondering how you were able to keep your engine cool enough to prevent damage.
