Merged a few threads here folks...
Just another board meeting update from Tuesday.. and this one is BIG! OCMA has secured a new site at Irvine Lake, and the process to begin construction is underway. Current OCMA members must obtain a new badge and sign an Irvine Company waiver before gaining admittance to the facility. Once you have met these requirements, you can go check out the site. Feel free to fire up some electrics, but DO NOT attempt to fly glow or gas planes at the site.
Currently the site is unusable, and much work is needed before maiden flights take place. The board has approved a construction budget of $40,000 that will cover grading, runway, pits, and the many ancillary items that are required to get a new field up and running. The ground at this facility is about 4" of dirt top soil with rock underneath. It's going to take some doing, but we are targeting completion by July 15th.
If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here. Also be sure to check out
www.flyocma.com for more details. I'll do my best to keep you all in the loop.
Thanks!
