I know a guy in Vegas that doesn't use the wires. His planes are a nightmare to look at due to hangar rash and his Preventative Maint is non existent. He does mild 3-D and has not been using flying wires and flying with a huge hole in the covering along the side. Uses a BME 100 on his. He's never had a problem to date with the plane due to no flying wires.

I've been told by Ken that the wires are functional and a probably a must for 3-D and IMAC to keep the plane tracking the same throughout. I plan to use them on mine. Actually wires don't add that much time to the setup. Maybe 5mins max.
