Hello All,
The response to Vess Propellers has been tremendous and I want to thank everyone for their support. And it's great to hear that they are working well in so many applications!
I know that many of you have been patiently waiting for sizes to fit 50-60cc class airplanes and finally the wait is over. The new 22A-C and 23A-C sizes are now shipping! You can visit the online store on our website (
www.vessaero,com) right now and place your order 24/7 for immediate delivery. Also, Desert Aircraft is being stocked right now and will be available to take your phone orders very soon.
I thought you would appreciate some indication of what seems to be working for some of the many different aircraft/engines we have tested so here's a few examples for reference. It seems that good 45cc engines like the Evolution 45 are quite happy with a 22A. The first attached photo shows Jeff Holsinger's H9 Extra 260 with this engine/prop and a large-volume cannister muffler. I have personally flown this airplane and have found that it has unlimited vertical and sounds like an electric (VERY quiet). The second photo shows Tim Squire's Wild Hare Edge with a DA on a Slimline (I think) muffler. I recall Tim said that this airplane weighs about 18 pounds and it works very well with a 22B. Again, I have flown it and, although the vertical is not unlimited at this weight, it is very respectable and the combination fits Tim's flying style very well. The third photo depicts the beautiful Carden Cuda of Josh Bunn. This cleaner airframe seems to benefit well from a little larger prop and Josh and I both prefer the 23A on his DA with a "Pitts-type" muffler. This combination gives a constant speed feel and it hovers very nicely.
Although I don't have pictures, I should also note that tests on the popular 85" Yaks like Dustin Hedrick's Quique version or Jay Benson's Aviation Models one both seem to show a preference for the 23A for all around 3D type and sport flying.
Obviously, the slightly higher load prop sizes like the 22C and 23B/C might better absorb the extra power available from some of the larger displacement engines in the 55-60cc range. But overall, we have tried to provide several options with these two diameters with three pitch-series each so that you can tune your setup to match your particular needs and flying style.
I hope that you enjoy these new props and look forward to hearing your comments! Stay tuned for more new props to come..........
Happy Flying,
Robert Vess
