OK It may be a little early but I need to book some time off for this.

It' l be my first time so go easy on me when I get there!:197::200::200:

Hey Curtiss,
I asked where because I herd a rumour that it might NOT be at Cinci this year.
So what "world Record" did you set at SEFF?
exeter_acres
09-15-2008, 02:24 PM
really?? Not at Cinci? Wow...didn't know
as for the World Record... I had a little help!
We had the most RC airplanes flying at once! we had 100 airplanes flying at once!
Marian is typically the instigator...I mean, organizer of the chicken wing. I'm sure she has a date in mind...stay tuned

Jim,
Last year it was October 27th weekend in Harrison. The only hot wings I saw were the Monocote covered ones on the fire.
Not sure about the name therefore, having not seen these elusive chicken wings? May have to go search for them again this year.

Marian is typically the instigator.
Somehow this seems more plausible for most things doesn't it?
OH ya, was flipping the channels the other day and I heard Dr. Phil say "all y'all" (I swear!)

Chicken wing....we are in.
In case you haven't heard....we just had a little wind come thru here yesterday. Last I heard, Will and Marian were without power. We have some roof damage along with 98% of the people around us.
So give Marian a few days to get organized again and hope we will have a date for the Chicken Wing soon.

Hope all ya'll are ok (southern enough?)
Howdy ya'll!! The whole spirit of the chicken wing involves, well, chicken wings! Way back when it was decided that, hey, we don't want the season to end!! Let's get together again about a month after the last contest and we all have an excuse to see each other again! (Can you feel the NCFR spirirt here) well, we picked to get together in Columbus at Kurts field and eat - you guessed it- chicken wings!! You see Will really liked this restaraunt named "roosters" and decided he wanted to go back again for the wings! So boys and girls the "chicken wing" was born! Since then we have gathered at Columbus and Cincinnati. We have have eated some of the best wings at Roosters, quaker steak n lube, and BW3's. We have made it into an annual tradition where we typically "fly" some new or proposed sequences for the next year. Some guys try out the next higher class and it is generally a relaxed IMAC feeling kinda fly in. The past two years we have held this at the harrison field and always enjoy returning to the fire pit for much "spirited" discussion and entertainment.....whew, that does it for "chicken wing 101" so again, stay tuned and we will give Marian a chance to get us organized....like she always does :)

Yeah we even felt it's affects up here in the GWN! (Great White North).
The end of season and Canadian Ontario Regionals was rained out on Saturday in Chatham. We didn't suffer to much though as we got to droool over some very nice cars Saturday afternoon courtesy of 3D Donny.
Don is one of the shop managers of RM Restorations in Chatham Ontario and aranged a Private Tour of the facilities and Museum/Show Room. We even saw a 1936 Lincoln Continental owned by Kidd Rock. We got to peek inside and go behind the ropes at the Museum Not bad for not beeing able to fly!

Ok, Ok, seems like I am not the only instigator in the North Central:197:. The Chicken Wing will indeed be held this year at the Cincinnati field on November 1 and 2. All are welcome to come down and participate. We try to have the proposed knowns for all classes for the next year so they can be flown and recommend changes to them.
A few things I would like to clear up:
1. You will never hear me say y'all.
2. I do not foot the bill for the chicken wings and/or beer--I think I heard Rick say something about covering that (Kroeze not Musselman).
3. We will have some form of lunch available at the field but bring your own drinks.
4. Very cool tour arranged by Don McLellan--I wish I would have been there--thanks for the pics!
5. Momma, love the avatar!
I will post a flyer and map once power is restored to our home (it's been 48 hours now). We've been told to expect to be without power for most of the week. We did indeed get our butts kicked this weekend--the local news has been comparing it to a hurricaine as some of the wind gusts were over 76 mph. The really weird thing is that it was only wind--no rain--so at least we didn't have to contend with that. I know have a little idea what our southern bretheren go through when they are hit with one.
Bottom line is give me a little time, more information is forthcoming!!!

We are fine, just a little banged up. Shingles off the roof, gutters down, trees down everywhere. It is kinda like out of a movie or something--people waiting in line almost 2 hours to fill up their gas tanks, stores that are actually open have empty shelves, looting... Apparently a significant number of our electric comapnies service personnel went to Texas for hurricaine relief and left us to deal with a major wide-spread power outage with a skeleton crew. I heard on the news that a bunch of service workers were coming up from the Carolinas to help out!! Thanks to them! Things seem to be getting better today--I saw a lot more places with power this morning on my way to work.
Yes, Rick, you need to bring your wallet. As you know, the North Central crew can put away some brew and throw down a lot of chicken wings!:197:

But they don't take Canadian currency!!!
Glad to hear you guys are OK. Now the important question is, no planes were damaged right?
Definately sounds like you've earned a beer or 2 or ... I'm buying at least one of them.
Y'all was referring to a joke that was told at the last wing.

There were no airplanes damaged and that goes for models and full scale as well. I think we lucked out there since our airplanes are tied down facing south and that was where the wind was coming from. And you are correct, we have earned a beer or two, but we have already had those since we had to drink them before they got warm, you know, there was no way to keep them cold so they had to go.:Banane35:

Danny, I did get your e-mail yesterday and sent it along to Will, but with all of the confusion at home I forgot to ask if he got it (he only has e-mail on his mobile right now). The aviation community here is small and everyone seems to know everyone else so it stands to reason that you will bump into someone you know.

Yeah, overall we were all lucky. Shingles and trees down but otherwise everyone is okay. Our son up in Columbus is still without power. AEP told them "maybe" Wed midnight or Thur before they get power back.

Just talked with Brad....he says..."AEP (power) were out here....and he went out to ask them if they were there to get the power back on....to which they replied..."No, we were just trying to find a quiet place to eat lunch" .....Now that had to hurt since he has been without power since Sunday. No food now, no hot water for showers, no lights, internet, etc. :212:

I know. There is power all around, but we are in an area with about 50 houses without it. It may still be a couple of days. I'm just glad that the weather is pleasant! This would suck with 90 degree heat and flooding like they have in Texas.

Can any of you Locos..... er I mean Locals,:197:, recomend some motels in the area?
I ussually go with Motel 6 but the closest one seems to be about 22 miles from the field.
In the original Burniot Post they give directions to the field from the "motels" but don't mention what or where the motels are.
Booking Friday off as it's about a 9 hour drive for me from the GWN!

BW3's is in Harrison - there is another group of hotels in Lawrenceburg.
You are also welcome to camp. Many of us will be camping that weekend. We usually come back from BW3's and have a campfire.
If the weather sucks, we all usually end up over at Will and Marian's for Football.
