Hi Everyone,
I just got off the phone with Bernie Boland and he wanted me to let everyone know that the the SW Regional contest will be held on Friday Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 27th, 28th, & 29th, following Thanksgiving day. A special format will be used for this contest. So yes this will be a 3 day contest to see who is the "Best of the Best in the Southwest"! He will be posting a flyer very soon with all the details. Check back for more details.

Good luck to all the flyers representing the SW at the TAS!! :198:

Hope to see all of you at the Regional.

Unfortunately t-givin weekend is a big family weekend for me so I probably won't be able to make it. Besides, I'll probably be practicing 2010's sequences by then...

Hello all you SW IMACer,

I am excited to announce the SW IMAC finals scheduled for the 27th to the 29th of November. This contest will be a challenge to all the classes bringing out the best in all the pilots. I have always felt the Final contest should be the toughest contest of the year.

I know this weekend will not work for everyone, sorry.

I am very luck to have a topnotch group helping make this an outstanding finish for 2009.

First the EVA Club and all the members being behind the event.
Bill Adams as co-CD
Dean Bird has step up as head judge.
2 different Hotels have offered huge discounts for our group
Black Bear Dinner has stepped up with a great deal for our Saturday night Banquet

The event has a lot of different things going on as you can see on the IMAC sight when you sign up. Three days of flying with 3 total unknowns for Sportsman and up. One unknown for Basic on Sunday that Tim Attaway is personally cooking up.

“The Basic unknown will be flown for a special trophy not part of the contest score totals”

The EVA home page will have the flyer up in the next day or so. The flyer will have the hotel deals, map and more contest details.
http://www.eastvalleyaviators.org/index.htm

If you have not spent much time in the Phx area over Thanksgiving time the weather is great. The hotels can be very expensive and I have worked 2 hotels for a great deal. Please make plans ASAP with the hotel (you can cancel them at no cost).

More to come in the next few days.

See ya soon,

Bernie Boland

Hey Boys,

I have worked out a deal with 2 different hotels. Here is the info. Call them ASAP as the rooms are first come first serve. Ask for the IMAC or EVA rate.

Sleep Inn $59 + tax
Phone: (480) 807-7760
http://www.sleepinn.com/ires/en-US/html/HotelHome?hotel=AZ022 (http://www.sleepinn.com/ires/en-US/html/HotelHome?hotel=AZ022)

Country Inn & Suites (nicer hotel) is the upgrade hotel with a $89 per room $99 for Suites
Telephone: (480) 641-8000
http://www.countryinns.com/mesaaz (http://www.countryinns.com/mesaaz)

The rates will work for all week and a few days past the weekend so book them as you see fit.

Remember that RV's are welcome at the field (there are no hookups) There is also a KOA like 5 miles from the field.

See ya soon,

Bernie

Hello Dave,

Good Question. I forgot to post that tidbit,

$50 for IMAC members
$55 for all none IMAC members.

Anyone that wants to join / renew IMAC at registration will get the $50 price and I will process the registration on Monday after the weekend so they will be a member for the next year’s event. IMAC cards will be needed to get the savings. We will have a couple of computers on line at the event that can be used for membership verification.

Cheers,

Bernie

Hello All,

I just wanted remind all of you coming from out of town. The killer hotel deals we worked out are filling up at both hotels.

If you wait to the last second to make hotel plans you will not get our IMAC deal. “Plan on spending well over a $100 per night in Mesa this time of the year if you can get a room”

Here is the hotel link / info. http://www.eastvalleyaviators.org/CLUB%20DOCUMENTS/EVA%20Southwest%20IMAC%20Regional%20Hotel%20Specia ls.pdf

You can cancel them with a 24 hour notice at no cost.

I was pretty impressed with talent that is in the Basic class. Randy D left no doubt that he was the man to beat in Basic. His unknown looked really good as well. It is going to be a tough year for Sportsman in 2010. Glad I'm moving up!! And again thanks for a great contest. I really enjoyed the 3 day event.....more flying!
