I don't even know where to start. I feel like a kid in a candy store! I would like to suggest that the Giants take up a collection to send this poor schmuck to one of the R/C flying schools for a week. He does have some mental disabilities and struggles everyday to fit into society. I'm just happy that he doesn't have to wear that football helmet around anymore!

What actually happened?
Over rotate on the snap and to low by the time you figured what direction you were in?
Sorry for the lose, But if you are gonna put-it-in, put-it-in in front of the camera..... It lives forever.

Nice flight, up until the sudden stop. Not just a part number, a sh!tload of part numbers, some blood and sweat, and most importantly, TIME.

These posts really show how IMAC is all about "good" friends. Being compared to Clint, that's hitting below the belt.

It kind of looked like what I've seen years ago. A guy was trying to do snap while performing sharp flat turn ended up in a disaster. I think there's a massive amount of stress inserted on rudder already. Must say, it was a very brave maneuver.
other than the crash, you are one bad ass rc pilot, man. if you want to bake a cake you gotta break a few eggs.
i have a question, why do guys rev the engine up and down in a torque roll? i notice that most of the bad ass piolts do tthat. i just leave it still and go up and down 1 click. is there any advantage to it?

I'm with you on that one. I try and just keep it around a couple clicks. Dont think there is a disadvantage.

Its because when keeping the engine "ON THE PIPE" you are less likely to have a loaded-up engine stall..A couple clicks above idle will not keep the motor clean..And when your saying those badass guys, when doing these manuvers, there 3 or 4 feet off the ground..It just keeps the engine "HOT" in case you need to nail it to bail out or something..You dont want the engine to hesitate at all during 3D..Thats why you will see good 3D'ers keep burping the throttle..

If you 3d, you're gonna do it. It's just a matter if it's done in style or not. Based on the length of the debris trail, this one was in style.
Couple of posts back someone used the word "thud". I think the owner just got himself a new nickname;)
BOSSIER_ROB

I used the word thud. If anyone deserves it as a nickname, it'd be Leeseburg when he pounded his into the ground at Tucson. That was a dumb thumb thud! He had time to abort and save it. Lyndel, not so much. Great attempt though. That took sack.

yeah i was kind of thinking that but wasent really shure. i do notice after a few minuets of torquerollin it kinda hesatates, guess i should give it a try. thanks mike,:198:

I also have found that if you are torque rolling, that blimping the throttle seems to induce the "torque" effect quicker. If you continue to blip the throttle the torquing speeds up quicker than if you were to keep a constant throttle setting. Not sure if this is true but is has been my experience.

The pumping of the throttle does several things I have found. if you watch for the slower 3d manuevers the throttle pumping is more frequent. when I do this I am giving the control surfaces a burst of air with every input and in some cases like mentioned earlier inducing more torque. also If you travel alot and your needle setting have the chance of being just alittle rich you can keep the carb cleaned out by pumping the throttle, reducing the chances of it loading up at the wrong time. I also get in the habit of when doing some things I continuously pump the throttle to do all the above and eliminate some of the things I have to think about while focusing on plane.

Lyndel's "pumping" is not for increased airflow or clearing the engine- it's a repetative motion injury in his left wrist.

You guys all have good comments... Nick, you are too funny! I'd just like to say that I am a proud member of the "Farm Club" where Lyndel flys on a regular basis. He is the greatest flyer I have ever seen. When he flys freestyle I feel like I owe him money to watch! (OOPS, Don't tell him I said that!!!) For all you that don't know, he is one of the best pilots in the US, if not the World!

It is also used as altitude and attitude control in rollers and harriers.

First video was some really nice flying. Respect to the pilot. When you push it that can happen (as I know all too well). He was doing some very tricky stuff pretty low. Those rolls and snaps were incredibly fast. I love to do knife edge loops and end up 10 feet from the ground before I start going back up....that has cost me once. I usually can bail by leveling the wings but this one was too late too low. Pan cake special.

no dis respect here hes definatly good, but you have to get out more man. theres a 8 or 9 year old kid named justin lee or chee thats probly better and then ya got all the 18 year old guys like rj gritter, jamie hicks and seth arnold. then theres yuri................wow. dont forget jason noll and even the extreme flight guys chris hinson and lee morey and then you have the god father quique simonzini definatly one of the best in the world. gernot bruckman is also one of the best in the world too but i never got to personally see him fly yet, just in videos, but videos dont do these guys any justice you have to be there to truly appricate it.
on another note i just noticed that both of the pilots in these 2 videos have big tall white socks on...........maybe that had something to do with the crashes???

This has always bothered me when I'm flying, and I noticed the same thing on this video.
Why is my roll rate faster when performing a rolling harrier rolling left?
Is it timing, perspective, optical illusion?
Great flying BTW.
