I too thought that Basic was easy until I flew it trying to perfect all that the judges look for....My advice would be to read the rule book before you decide you are above basic...
you may get a real shock:197:

Zac , sorry no bonus for juniors :212: . They will get to see some pretty good flying though,
so thats not too bad . As for the entry details , there are too many to go through so if you
go to the link , reg on the site then you can submit an entry .It can all be done in one night .
Just for newbs when you come to an ASSA event there are two things you must have .
CURRENT :- MOP (heavy model permit) if the plane is over 7kg
:- MAAA licence
Forget either of these and you will have some BIG issues with the CD of the day
The only emails to be sent out will be the entry confirmations ,after your details
have been received .

I also want to clear a few things up which relate to ALL ASAA comps .
There is NO need for gold wings at ANY official ASAA comps .
ANY model plane can be flown while in basic class .
A scale pilot and dash is NOT req in Australia .
ALL flyers must enjoy themselves. :200:

Mate,
Not trying to burst your bubble but you have to go through the classes like everyone else..
You cant just jump between classes at your own will.there is criteria you have to meet to be able to promote up through the classes...
I think you best have a chat to Stu or Tony Or Baz and find out how this hole IMAC thing works.
Not trying to flame ya mate but just dont want ya to make assumptions based on zero experience
Cheers

Hi All,
You MUST Enter the comp at the ASAA website in order to receive an entry confirmation form, without this you are unable to enter State Titles. All Entries must be in by 30th of September.
Cheers,

Hey Byron....
Great to see you at Melton again on the weekend. mate you need to enter in the comp at Vic state Champs... Would be good to see you there...
like your new plane...flys nice...
Also Andrew (Bam Bam) get your mate ( sorry dont remember his name ) to have a go at Basic...we can help him before the comp or on the day.. This way he will be good to go for next year having had the one comp at the end of the year.. remember anyone can win a prize in the raffle...all you have to do is fly.
And Yak 54/71 you should have a go to...
Great to see so much new talent interested in the sport....will be great to see you guys out at the field giving it a go...you wont regret it... I havent..

Not all flyers have to do their first comp in basic
Common sense is applied when flyers enter their first comp ,
previovs experience and their over all ability are of concern .
Flying in a class that is to high is just as bad as flying in one
that is to low .
Even flyers that have been out of the air for a long period will
be looked at closely and if they are deemed to be un safe they
can be asked to go to a lower level until their flying comes up
to scratch .
All newb are treated the same way .

Devo, will ask stuart to fly my yak in the comp. not sure if he will be up for it though.
Zac, it's Andrew here from P&darcs also. I was in the last comp in basic and i been watching ya fly, it would be great to see you come and compete too, but dont be too fussed about what the boys at P&Darcs tell ya, they think they know but they dont! also i think i must have smashed my yak 30 or forty times by now if you belive these guys!
For Zac and anyone else contemplating competing for the 1st time, dont be scared! you will be made to feel welcome and will get plenty of help from all involved. you will love it! plus you get to see some great flying and become a better pilot yourself! i learnt all this this from my only comp! it's worth it!
Bam Bam ...Thats the 73 or your big one? Im sure he will be up to do the manouvres.. Just get yourself or somebody else to land for him if you are worried.
How did you go with the 73 under cart?
Also for all other new IMAC flyers....
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE FLYING A BIG GASSER TO COMPETE... contray to popular or misguided opinion.
The 72 inch Yak I have was used up to Advanced/Unlimited level with success a few years ago by Vics current top IMAC pilot.....I bought it off him and used it in BASIC and won.
The 72 runs a 160 Glow and still goes well today...
There have been pilots with even smaller ones competing.
IMAC is about having fun, improving your flying, have a bit of a competition and most importantly about having fun.
It is not about who has the biggest dong up front....
It will be great to see as many new flyers at the comp as we can get as this is a great fun sport.
Good luck to all the people giving it a first go at this one...
PS make sure you hav FUN while competing...

It's the 73 he will fly, he can do the manouvres, and he can land fine, just gotta convince him to get over the stage freight!
Under cart on the 73 is back to fine! all good!

I think you would be fine in either Basic or Sportsman, if you have'nt practised to date you are probably better off starting off in Basic then once you are confident move up to Sportsman, remember IMAC is about flying manouvres that you would'nt normally fly while just hacking around down at the field on a Sunday so you are better to start off where you are comfortable.
What day are you going flying? I will see if I can pop down and give you a hand.
Cheers
Glenn.

Zac
Zac I spoke to Phil the other day and he said it was increased to 20 max...I contacted him when I saw them going higher.. Also it went to 11 so i thought it was cool.
So I reckon there is a glitch...
Stu or Phil will fix that...as they have the access to do it....
Its only a computer glitch...keep practicing......see you there mate..:)
Actually mate there is a Zac in basic there...I gather this is not you?
Ive PMed Phil to ask him to investigate for you....

Just another update about the Vic state champs .
It has been noticed that we have a lot of pilots who have NEVER
flown at or seen an IMAC comp so it has been decided to have a bit
of an informal info / have a fly day at the state filed . This day will
be as much for you (the pilots) as it will be for those putting the
event on .
There has also been some expressions of concern over which class
some pilots have been assigned to , this is your opportinity to show
us just what level you should be flying in .
The chosen date for this pre flight is 11/10/09 (NEXT SUNDAY) and should
kick off at 10 am . As always look at the www.vmaa.com.au (http://www.vmaa.com.au) for directions .

flying will start at 9.00 pm sharp with pilot breifing at 8.45 on sat & sun as we will have 25 to 30 pilots we will not have time to waste. So all pilots must have there regestration paid and be ready to fly by 8.45 each morning. All pilots are to check judgeing and penciling rosters, judges and pencilers must be ready to go at 9.00 sharp on booth days.

Also does anyone know how long it would take to get there from the SE suburbs? google's always way off when it come to travel times.

As said we need to do three rounds to have a comp so this shouldn't be a problem .
Also the state field does cope very well with high winds , the trees are well back
from the flying area and there are two strips to choose from . If any pilot is nervous
about landing just call out and one of the higher pilots will be there to help .
