On my new 260 I am going to be using the matchbox option on my 12x. The question is which channels do I plug my ailerons to so I can match them? 2 servos per wing is how it is setup. And the next question is, when I unplug the leads from the extensions to the reciever will I have to plug the leads back into the same lead the next time I fly?

I dont have the diagram with me so I cant tell you which ones. I think it is ail and gear and aux2 and aux3. Technically if you the servos matched up perfectly it should not matter which lead you plug into. I used the Multiplex connectors so I dont have to 2nd guess.

Activate 4 ail servo for wing type and then go into the servo monitor and see where the 4 blips are moving when youy move the aileron stick.

It's in the 12x instruction manual, but I think it is 2 and 7 for the right wing and 5 and 8 for the left. And yes you will have to plug all servos into the same channel every time.

Wayne,
Are you still using match Boxes for the Ailerons with you 12X?

I did on the last Godfrey because I had started flying it with 3 ail servos.
The new Carden is going to use the Balance function.

Good ! I don't need to buy Matchboxes now. Just the 12X instead.

The balance function on the early 12X’s didn’t work properly. If you go to the monitor screen, the channel functions will be named. In the upper left corner is channel 1, below that is channel 2, etc.. The upper right corner is channel 7, below that channel 8, etc.. The first 12X’s would balance RAL1 and RAIL2. It did nothing for the left ailerons. The workaround was to swap RAL2 and LAL1. This will work if you do NOT use FLAPERONS. If you do, the servos in each wing will work against each other.

The fix for that has been out almost a year.
You do need to send your radio to Horizon to get the software update if you bought an early 12X

Wayne, how can I easily tell if my 12X has the correct balance/software in it?

I have an older 12X that needed to be sent in to get the update.
This is how the 4 ailerons servos are labelled.

R Ail 1 - Ch2
R Ail 2 - Ch7
L Ail 1 - Ch5
L Ail 2 - Ch8

From the thread "12X": http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/679800-post693.html

In system mode code 83, top right if, "moment" is displayed next to the trimmer boxes, you have the newest update.

I must have the "old" version because the word "moment" is not displayed!! Maybe I'll send it in when I have some downtime this winter.

I bought mine at the end of Feb '09 and mine has the "update". Yours must have been some older stock. My channel assignments are the same as what Wayne posted. The Balance function on mine affects RAIL1 and LAIL1.

To bad Horizon should cover the shipping both ways, seeing as how they messed it up in the first place! :208:

No Ryan a not rough crowd, just upset that it will cost me over $100 in shipping costs. For something that should have been right in the first place! Why should I have to cover this cost? I would not call this warranty work, it's a defect in programming. Just because I purchased my radio early I am expected to cover the cost of getting it to and from them, I do not think so!!!

I'm about to put together a 40% for a friend and he owns a 12X. I know how to get the ailerons working, but can I also match the rudder servos using the transmitter? (push-pull) I will be using an R1222 receiver.

i understand what you are saying but have you tried the postal service. i sent something to canada and it only cost me $15 to ship it. usually horizon sends the product back without charge for shipping. it would be nice if you could download the program on your computer and load it into your radio though.

Yep! It will match ailerons, elevators, and 2 rudder servos.
