The balance function seems easy for setting up a 40% bird with 2 servos per wing on the 12X. I'd like to be able to run all the servos through the 1222 without matchboxes if this works. Has anyone setup a 1222 WITHOUT matchboxes by slaving unused channels to run 2 servos per stab and 2 servos total for the rudder? If so, how do you ensure the mixes and trim slave over as well? Any guidance would be appreciated.

I am upgrading my 3W Yak to 2.4 with the JR12X, 1222 Powersafe Receiver, LiMn 3000 packs @7.4V UNREGULATED, and 8711HV servos (2 per aileron, 2 rudder and hopefully 1 per stab depending on feedback). Flying style will be high energy 3D as per video link below of same plane.

Anyone? I'm interested in this as well. Would save money over a few birds if one could avoid a matchbox or power system. Would there be sufficient power while using long servo leads?

The 2 servos per wing is a piece of cake choose the 4 aileron wing option.
The 2 servos on rudder is also cake as you just mate up a second rudder servo.

The 4 servos on elevator is a little tougher.

My suggestion is to use the mate function for elevator and this will give you two elevator servos. Then you have to use the Program mixing Pmix with the "+" or Include type mix to get the other 2 elevator servos to work. The master will be +elev and the slave you other channel. Then do the same mix again for the 4th elevator servo.

My suggestion is that you don't need 4 servos on the elevator if you are using the 8711 of especially the HV servos.

The mate function is available in the setup menu

under device select turn off the channels you want to use for your second elevator servo and turn off the channel you want for the 2nd rudder servo. You do this by scrolling to the channel on the right and where it says [out] this is the output of the channel. Pick "INH" they are now turned off.

Then go into the wing type menu. Choose 4 aileron servo wing, and go to Elev and Rudd. Under each channel will be INH meaning they are not paired up with any channel. Scroll to the INH and press the roller bar. The channels you turned off in the previous menu are now available. Choose the ones you want to "MATE" with each function. Once done the radio will rename those channel as Relev and RRUD and LELEV and LRUD Its all done. Now everything you do to the elevates will affect both servos, same with rudder

additionally all 4 wing servos will be renamed as well.

Done deal.

If mixing to get 4 elevator servos....you will not get the new naming as with the mate function.

Good Luck
