I happened to pick up a brand new 25% Great Planes Yak from a guy pretty cheap. I'm looking to do 3d with it. Anyways, I bought a brand new Zenoah G45 from the same guy (he was selling all kinds of stuff). I was thinking about putting this engine into this plane. But a friend of mine said it would make it too heavy. So if the G45 isn't a good match for 3d, then what is? I would assume the DLE-30 would be too small? I can't seem to find information online about the G45 and its output horsepower...

I had one with a XYZ50hp on it and it was a rocketship. I lost it early due to an electrical issue so did not really get a chance to fly the crap out of it. I did get to fly it enough to know that it was going to be lots of fun with the 50 on it. To get it to balance both batteries (ign. and rx) were on the motor box. So with that in mind the G45 might make it balance easier. I have never seen a G45 fly so am not sure of the power. I would think that it would fly just fine but I think you would be limited when it came to 3d. I would save the 45 for a warbird and buy a light weight 50 to put in it.

go with a DLE55, a friend of mine had that airplane with the 55 and was really good choice, not heavy at all for 3D.

Actually I've been looking around and it seems that the DLE 55 is the lightest choice of engine. The Zenoah is a brick by comparison and the Fuji they recommend is quite a bit heavier than the DLE55. The only problem is finding a DLE 55 :-) They are sold out everywhere....
If you want really light with a Little more power go for the BME 58. They are available.

Anyone know anything about CRRC 50CC gas engines? I have a little 26CC CRRC engine and its ok. The guy before me wore it out and I need to rebuild it, however they don't seem that bad and currently you can get a 50CC on sale for 269 dollars.
I had a da 50 in one for two years and then sold it. It was awesome power, i wouldnt have gone with anything less.

You might try this one. They also have a larger one. But it might be a little big for it.
