EFEST Pre-registration is open as well. Go to the website, check out the events and come have some fun! 308 pilots and 2800 spectators last year. We're allowing for more space and pit tables this year!

Awesome event, can't wait to go this year! Last year was the first time I had ever flown a plane indoors. Was a little hard to get used to it. But well woth the fun. Combat is the bomb, even though I got T-boned in like the first 5 seconds.LOL

How would everybody like to do a "No Bull" air race sometime during EFEST? Similar to the full scale version with qualifying during the day and finals in the eve? If there's enough interest, we could probably put something together as I've got a few ideas in mind. It would take a combo of aerobatics and "gates".

Gary it will be great to see ya again!
About a month away!!! I'm very. Excited, I LOVE flying in the armory! I'm in the process of getting a head count of all my buddies here in st Louis that are planning on going so I can get some hotel rooms reserved. We will most likely be staying at the Drury, because my buddie's dad owns a drury hotel down in south missouri, wich gives us a KILLER discount:-) :-)
where is everybody staying at for the weekend?

Air Races are on!!! We're making pylons, and laying out a course. Bring your best depth perception and nimble fingers!!! The only rule is that you have to qualify in the top percentage to make it to the finals. There will be a different course in the finals.
Keep in mind, you don't have to have the fastest plane to be competitive.

I got to get to building. I am thinking I will get some scale stuff together maybe. worked on a wing of a dr1 and then realized they had the ail. marked to be cut in the wrong place.. grrrrr.. fixed and back on track now I have to figure out how my cable system will work and not get compromised when I start to dope the thing. which brings up a point.. no one ever dope and tissue or silk span stuff any more. its like a dieing art.
I am thinking maybe Vaseline on the strings which I will use a spider wire for. I have done this before and it worked great you just have to be carefull not to get it on anything else.
Man I cant wait. rooms booked. 5 buddies ready to load up and head that way!

Cool Josh! I'm actually trying to scratch build a powered parachute thing. It's kinda tough because I have to design the airfoiled chute! I thought about just buying one of those airfoiled kites and using that, but they are expensive, and then it wouldn't be SCRATCH built lol.
We were going to stay at the drury, but I was looking around online and found a cheap room at the Best western Paradise Inn. priceline baby!!!
by the way, heres a couple pictures of the canopy so far...

Just to make everybody aware, Pre-Registration stops next Friday the 22nd of January. If you are pre-registered, you will receive a pilot bag full of goodies. If not, you'll be missing out! This speeds up the registration process at the door when you arrive.
We need to have your pre-registration info in hand by Friday to qualify. Here is a link to the form to submit with your check or money order.

Here is my scratch built pylon racer. Powered by an E-Flite 250 on 3 cells and cut down 6x3 prop. The wing is based on the speed 400 pylon racers.
Andrew,
I don't think I can destroy your Aerocat with this one this time.

I am in!!!
The rules and course is laid out for the "No Bull" Air Race!!! Better bring your "A" game and best "reflexes". You'll be able to sign up for it on Sat. am before 10:30. Racing starts at 11:00
This is going to be fun!!!!
Here are the basic rules: Course layout will be given to you at the event!!
GATES: There are 2 types of markers on the course, gates and pylons. The single pylons are turn “markers” and are not height critical. The double gates are to be passed between with the aircraft, and ARE height critical. The fuselage of the plane has to pass through the gates within the checkerboard section at the top of the pylon. As long as the fuse passes through this area it will be considered a “clean” gate pass.
PENALTIES: There will be a 5 second penalty added for any gate infraction, missed pylon, or any missed aerobatic maneuver on the course. (You can miss a gate, and then try an attempt at that gate again if you think it will take less time than the infraction penalty.)
Loop infraction: The loop may be no more than 45 degrees off vertical.
Knife Edge: A pass through the gate in KE must be at least 45 degrees to vertical when going through the gate.
If a pylon is knocked down, then it is considered an infraction and a penalty will be added to your time.
AEROBATICS: You must be prepared to do a loop, a roll and fly in knife edge while on the course. These are designated in the course layout. This will dictate what type of planes work best.

Frank;
I have some guys coming up with me that want to try indoor flying.
This will be there first time indoors and I told them this venue is big enuf (space) to try it.
Looking at the schedule it looks like 4 hours for open flying on Saturday (only day we will be there), does that look about right?
Thanks
Futabaman
01-19-2010, 03:10 PM
Acutally, there's 6 hours of open flying and even more if you have aircraft that fit into the other categories such as Jets, Micro, Helis, or just 3D.

Roger, it's actually more like 7 or 8 hours of open flying on Satuday. Additionally if you are flying 3D that area can be used while the main area is being used for an event.

if your friends are flying a 3D style plane and put the little 1" glow sticks on it for the night time stuff you will have 9.5 hours of flying and that is JUST SATURDAY

You put the " " around the wrong words.
It should be:

* = Play can be replaced with any of the following, crash, re-kit, lose in the rafters, hit the crowd with, make Frank mad, destroy
