Jon, I believe there is a field in Candor if you're wanting something closer by. There is also WSRC in Mocksville, that's about an hour and a halfish drive for you. I'm a member of WSRC, and it's a fantastic field. There used to be a lot of IMAC activity there, and it's plenty big enough for giant scale stuff. Take care! |

jholt, ryansmith and everyone; "Thank you for your information" I will keep lookin and hope I can get out to the places you fellas recommended.. I live smack-dab center of Troy. Nice little town.. nothing here, NC seems nice country side, but still nice.. I like it here from what I have seen so far.. but I wanna fly.. I am assigned here for a-l-o-n-g time, so really need to find everythng rc (LHS & fly-sites.etc,..) I fly and build giants and not to offend anyone... I luv that gasoline.. hint-hint! I found one guy flying at a local mid-school here, but he was flying a wal-mart foamer and did not know.. I have been checking all the rc forums, but seems nothing close by unless you drive a 100 / 200 or more miles or so.. hmmm! Truly thank you for the information.. if anyone else has some info.. hey- pls post. Merry Christmas and Happy safe Holidays Everyone Jon aka buckiflyer |

Hey Jon, It's great to have you here!! I'm going to move your thread to the "Flying Friends" forum. I think you will get more exposure over there as not everyone looks at the "New to the Giants" forum. I'm sure you've already browsed the site, we hope you like what you've seen. The members here are the best you will find anywhere, always willing to help and keep you smiling at the same time. Welcome to the Giants!!!

Hi Jon - Welcome to the FG's If you haven't tried or seen this yet I hope it helps. Bill Lee created an AMA Club Locator site that is the best one I've seen. It either allows you to enter your zip code or city state info and a radius in miles you want to search. I used your zip for Troy of 27371 and a 50 mile radius just to get started and came up with about 18 clubs. Here is the link: http://www.ama-dist-8.org/Clubs/Locator.php If you see an added link in the detailed info at the bottom of the page that looks like this: Link to GPS and Aerial Photos, this will take you to added info that Bill let's me piggy back onto his. Bill's info is the AMA contact info while mine shows you the actual RC Clubs Runway location using links to Google Maps and coordinates I've managed to put together on my own. Hope you find a close place to fly and good luck to you.

Wow..hey Thanks everybody.. some of you have given your tele's and so I'll be getting intouch for sure.. Thanks.. I have been looking around from some of the info you all have presented and suggested.. I'm still looking into those. Let me say I miss flying.. don't tell, but the other day we had a real nice weather and warm & sunny and so with no site to go to, I went down this one back country road and used the road for my airstrip and joy-joy had a great time most the day until the local forestry and fire departments decided to have a controled burn and almost ran me over just as I was making my approach to land on the same road... "Gotta find a place to fly" anyways.. someone said twice they werent sure where I am located or where to town is,...well,.. I am on NC 24/27 Albemarle Rd., just leaving Troy (opposite direction to Star/Biscoe) heading towards Albemarle.. Again,.. thanks to everyone who wrote in here to let me know where sites (clubs)and fields are located here in S. Cntr'l NC.. Take care all.. Jon aka buckiflyer |
