Default Voltij

Got my voltij by aeromod about 2 week ago.
I got the full carbon Optimal version. What a sweet slopie, Knife edge like you wont believe it, super slope hucker. Extremely versitile, flies well in light to moderate conditions with out ballast.

Not good for Ds. These things are capable of the tightest loops i have ever seen a sailplane do, almost as tight as a shock flyer.
the voltij has huge almost "3D" sized control surfaces.

Just like the idea of being able to do rolling circles for hours, and have a sailplane that you can fly a bit like a 3d machine, snaps and just go crazy with when you cant get out to make some noise.
Got a slope where we DS a bit when conditions are good, can see it from my living room. 1 minute drive and 10 minute walk, mostly EPP wings at that spot.

I just bought one from F3X last night. Theyre out right now- It'll take two months for it to come in, but I get my pick of colors ( I got white with blue trim ).

So: Gus155- how did you do your aileron servos? In the fuse or wing-mounted?

I guess Ive been moving this way in my slope flying career and it was time to buy a dedicated aerobatic plane. While I enjoy your average 60" racer for acro, the "inside-outside" factor of the MG-05 airfoil should be fun. I have a CR Turbo with the SD-8020 airfoil, but it needs VERY vertical lift to work well. It does fly exactly the same upside down; just as bad some would say...

Anyway, I cant wait for the Voltij.

Got standard High torque servos in the fus for the ailerons. Have heard that some of the guys in france are splitting the ailerons on the VoltiJ, ( in board flaps, out board ailerons) and comming up with some weird mixes.
The extra price of the Optimal Version is well worth the extra money. Only down side of the Optimal, being exclusivly carbon fiber, is that PPM recievers dont work so hot, but sorted it out with a PCM rx. The Optimal versions come with the ailerons pre hinged, and Alexis does a awesome job on the hinging. Would strongly reccomend using good quality servos all round.
The VoltiJ is awesome, its the only sloper i have been flying since December, every thing else has been gathering dust.
Theres a new site dedicated to slope aerobatics. www.slopeaerobatics.com
Sufimp has a pretty good build thread on RC Groups.

Cheers.

Gus
