I remember my first hops with heli, a nexus 30. I was so excited. Goood luck and take it slow.

sounds like your setup for success... Like huffer said... slower is faster in the learning arena the better you learn basics now, the quicker you'll pick up 3D.

Just some advise to you. Check the tail rotor gear and make sure the scews are tight. I bought one of these and lost tail rotor during the first few flight due to the factory set screws. Just some advise. Im not bashing the company.

If your intent is to go toward 3D or aerobatic flying I would recommend that you get your radio set up for a hover at 3/4 stick, with +9 at the top and 0 at mid stick and -3 at the bottom. that way you will not have to relearn later. I am old and slow so I had a hard time changing from a 1/2 stick hover to a 3/4 stick hover.
The way you are set up now If a gust of wind hits you may have a problem getting down safely since you will still have positive pitch as the throttle closes and your headspeed will get dangerously slow by the time you can get it down.
This is just my opinion, You can ask 10 experienced fliers how to set up for a beginner and get 10 different but correct answers.
Some of what I said may have already been set up by whomever is helping you. You should probably stick to the recommendations of your instructor.

I agree with Jeff,,
The only negative thing about negative pitch (pun intended...) is that if you panic and slam the stick down, your heli will come down also but like anything in this hobby, practice will remove that potential. Without negative pitch you will undoubtedly end up in more trouble than with it unless you are indoors with a trex or something.

Take care,,
Troy

Just for a different point of view, I disagree with having any negative pitch with a new pilot learning to hover. Leave it at zero pitch on the low end until you get to the poitn where you don't panic and slam the collective down. With zero pitch the heli WILL come down and you will not lose that much headspeed. If you are learning, you are better off with zero pitch, unless you have a supply of tailbooms. I have seen too many beginners in my 20+ years of flying helis have a boomstrike due to negative pitch.
Once you get to the point where you are ready to start pushing into forward flight, then dial in the negative.
