Default The E-TOC Information Source!

By: Bob "Biff" Sadler

Okay guys, it’s time for the throw down in Toledo!!! Time to get ready for the world famous TNT Electric company’s E-TOC. This year will be a GIANT leap forward for the contest. First of all we added another day. Thursday will be the qualifier. You need to get to the top 12 to even compete on Friday. Friday is the big day where all the best pilots will compete for cash and bragging rights for a year. Who will stand on the podium? We'll just have to see.

So you've added another day, what else is new? Well we've added sequences. I can already hear the moans. But not just sequences, BAD-ASS sequences!! We've blended the precision with the Huck'in. You will take one look at this and no doubt agree it's something you'd like to see! I struggled long and hard to produce a sequence that's easy to judge, HARD to fly and fun to watch. Honestly it's evil!!

The pilot pool is truly international this year. We have some of the faces you've come to expect and some new guys who are going to blow you away!! Trust me here. We haven't lost site of what you want to see, we've just stepped it up a notch to make sure the guy who walks out of the hall on Friday night is THE MAN!!

The format is this. Thursday night.1 round sequence followed by 1 freestyle. This ensures we will see everyone's freestyle and get a look at how the pilots will fare with the sequence. We will take the top 12 pilots to Friday night's big show.

Friday night will be a BLAST!! 1 round Freestyle, 1 round sequence and finish with one more round of hold nothing back freestyle!! 50% of the score will be the 1 sequence and the other half will be your best freestyle. NO POINTS CARRIED FROM THURSDAY.

What this means is pilots better bring the A game. There will be pressure, there will be screaming crowds of fans and the best electric pilot in the world will be named!

Tom Kroggel and I are working together to put on one fantastic show. Links for TNT Landing Gear are comining, and pre-order tickets are available now! PLEASE GET THEM SOON. There are a limited number so don't wait! We always sell out early.

The Flying Giants will be the "go to" site for news and information. We'll have the sequence flown and recorded on a sim so you can see and try what these pilots will be up against. We're going to give you coverage of this event like you've never seen!!

Chief judge and legendary TOC Chief Judge Fred Johnson will be giving you the skinny on his list of judges, so check back to see what he has in store.

Now on to the pilots list:
Jeff Pfeifer
Andrew Jesky
Matt Mahnke
Mark Leseberg
Jason Noll
George Hicks
John Glezellis
Sean McMurtry
Mike McConville
Jason Danhakl
Benoit Dierickx

Darren Eaton
Scott Foster
David Payne
Frank Noll
Quique Somenzini
Jason Shulman
Chip Hyde
Chris Maier (New kid)
Chase Wolk
Claes Meijer (Sweden)
Marco Benincasa (Italy)
Donatas Pauzuolis (Lithuania)
Marcus Rummer (Germany)

That's it, 24 of the best. Ready for some more Giant news? Mouth of the South Productions!!! That's right kids, it's time to jump head first into our latest venture. We'll now be covering the best and biggest events bringing videos of all the action. Imagine behind the scene action and live wired audio of what makes up these events. We've purchased the latest equipment to provide coverage of what you want to see. Tired of not laughing while viewing great events? A thing of the past!! No telling what will be on the vid, but we prominse they will be entertaining and informative.

Mouth of the South productions will have exclusive rights this year, so plan on purchasing your next E-TOC video right here on the Flying Giants site. We'll also be providing live feeds from the event, and full online video coverage as it occurs. Stay tuned!!

Big stuffs a commin’ folks!

Once again you guys are cranking up the RC web coverage to 11.

To quote Nigel from "Spinal Tap", "It's like, how much more better could RC coverage be be? And the answer is none. None more better."

Keep kicking the ass Bob and Max.

Default Re: The E-TOC Information Source!

I just have a few questions reguarding the sequence posted earlier today.

1. Will this be the same sequence for the finals?
2. Manuver #2 Is it supposed to be a centered flat "S" then a half roll after or a half roll in the center of the "S" ,and what designates an opposite half roll as if the manuver is a flat "S" then a half roll there is no roll to be opposite of therefore doesn't matter the direction of the roll?
3. Also manuver #4 is the 270 knife edge loop supposed to end at the center of the box? or at the end of the box heading toward the center, my reasoning on this is if you complete manuver #3 from right to left then push vertical then perform 1/4 roll then a 270 knifeedge loop to the right if you perform the manuver geometrically correct you will end up in the same place that you started manuver #4 at the left end of the box, but if you knife edge loop the other way you will be in the wall if manuver #3 is properly centered.???? hmm.

After reading through the manuvers we really need an aresti of the sequence to clear up how it is supposed to be flown as the manuver descriptions allow errors due to mis-interpretation.

Also manuvers 10,11, and 12 need some further clarification as well.

10. is the manuver supposed to be performed on the hoizontal plane or vertical be cause if you exit #9 cross box then push vertical you are going up? how is a horizontal Knife edge 8 possible starting from an up line? then you exit by pushing upright?

11. if you exit #10 upright then do a 2/4 roll then pull you are in the ground. If you read it the other way you perform a 2/4 roll then establish a vertical up line then 1 1/4 snaps on the up line then pull again you are inverted not level and up right as the sequence says.

12. I understand the 4 roll 180 degree horizontal turn, but how is the landing sequence to be performed do you just land after you complete the 4 roll 180 or is it supposed to be a decending rolling 180 to a landing?

Ok I have read and re-read this sequence today and I think I have figured it out, all of a sudden it clicked in my head how it is supposed to be interpretated, just some of the wording was confusing. So maybe an aresti diagram would help the other competitiors figure it out and a little rewording. Other than that the sequence flows fairly well.

Sounds good! I will be flying through the sequence tomorrow morning I'll let you know how it goes. Some of the manuvers look like they could be a little tricky to fly in the confines of the E-TOC venue. Watch out for the B-Ball goals! Also manuver 7, with the full roll on the downline, that floor is going to be coming up very quick!! Well gotta run, have to go get my ARRRRPlanes ready to go practice.

Sounds good, I have been practicing downline manuvers from the altitude that the E-TOC Venue allows and I have found that anything over a half roll on the down line gets kinda scary and doesn't present well. Now snaps are a different story the 1 1/4 snap in the sequence is not a problem, but if not done properly looks rushed. In other words "Flying-Giants Talk," the manuver looks like a really awesome "Blaino-Draino," rather than a smooth, precise, sequence manuver.
