About 2 weeks ago I got the opportunity of a life time; my school ROTC program offered me ALOT of money to get my private license. Alls I have to do is pay 2000$ over 5 months and I get my private! I don’t have to join the military or anything like that; I just have to wear the uniform on Wednesdays.

The past 2 weekends I have been attending a ground school at my local airport (KTRI) from 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. I have earned 11.7 hours total and 7.6 hours of instructed flying. I am currently studying for the written exam and will be taking that soon.

I am the only student at Sullivan South High School to ever do this, witch makes it that much cooler!
My solo will probably be after next Wednesday after I get my 3rd class med.

That is awesome if you can do this. What is the reasoning behind them doing this for you? Are you going to fly the principal around or something. LOL j/k Sweet deal though.

They normally offer a solo program but no one has ever wanted to go farther like I have. The program has been there but no one has ever taken advantage of it.

PS- Let's here some of your stories! Things you have had to overcome to reach your dreams. A problem I will have is the color blindness issue. I am not BAD but I am what I am.

I soloed at 16, got interested in other things (females).Picked it up again at 30, still like females!

My hubby got his drivers license, medical and soloed all on his 16th birthday. Now, mind you that was a few years ago, but he has been flying ever since.

Cool deal man, the classes arent too hard are they? I start ground school next week for my private license...I can't wait!!! Im in the same boat as you since no one at my school has done this that I know of.

Not a Vultee,,,,,, North American BT-14. The only one we know of flying!

How long is the ground school? Mine was four days from 8am-4pm. ALOT OF NOTES!!!!! 36 pages to be exact. Good luck! Hope it goes well for you!

4 days??? mine is like 2 days a week from feb. to april...im takin it at the comm. college in gastonia, where did you take yours?

I took mine at the flight school at the airport. That was alot of info at one time. we went through the "private pilot manual" in 4 days! That thing is like 3 inches thick!
