| !!GET DOWN!! ![]() | Hi guys. Is this to good to be true.http://www.chiefaircraft.com/rcmsec/.../YAK54-40.html Is this just me or is this a super cheap price? If there is any 40% Aviation Models yak-54, how do they fly? I think this is way to cheap but man, if this stays that low, in 1 year, I'll buy me one. |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | A member of my club has one with a ZDZ 210. I’ve been lucky enough to have a turn at the sticks with it and all I can say is WOW! It’s so smooth and predictable it’s unbelievable. It is literally the easiest plane to fly and 3D I have ever flown. It dethrones the Carden 40% Edge as the king of 3D, IMO. After flying one I can’t see why they aren’t more popular. The downsides are it is HUGE, draggy and around 50lb’s dry, so even the strongest 150cc-class engines are barely enough for it. I’ve seen a video of one with a DA150 on pipes and it had almost zero pullout from a hover. The ZDZ 210 was absolutely perfect for it swinging a 34x14 prop. It had a very similar, if not slightly better power-to-weight than your average 40% with a strong 150-class engine. The only issue he’s had with the plane is the canopy deformed from sitting in the sun and the cowl is a little flimsy. My only concern now would be replacement parts. It is an incredible steal at that price! |

| Barking-Tip Bandit ![]() | Visit the Trobuilt Models websight. I can paraphrase, but I believe this is one of the named importers that had a falling out with the manufacturer. This and other planes from the same manufacturer are being distributed as SD Models, or something like that. Like I said, the story I read is on troybuiltmodels.com. Sounds like a common story with overseas manufacturers and domestic distributorships. Same thing with Moki engines, Gerard enterprizes and Morris Hobbies (That's why we can buy Mark engines - they are the same, I've been to the factory) and several other ARF companies. |
