If the starting point is your IMAC rate for flying and performing snaps, i.e. lots of aileron, not so much elevator and rudder, and medium to lots of expo, then I would turn the ailerons to 50% of that and increase rudder and elevator about 25%. I assume we are talking a flying rolling circle, not a high alpha rolling circle.

i usually use about 60 to 70% of throw on all surfaces with about 50-60% expo on low/medium rates for most non-3D stuff. my 3D rates, i'm using 100% throw(when allowed without binding of course) with around 70% expo. seems to work ok for me, but its all personal preference i guess

ailerons & rudder burried, 65% on elevator when learning. Kill rates once you figure it out.

I am still perfecting my rolling cricles, but I like it soft all round, low travel, and about 40% expo (No more) for a reasonably linear feel on the sticks. Dont underestimate the value of adjusting the tension of your springs, especially the elevator and rudder springs, it can really help you be precise with your left stick inputs....... well thats if you fly mode1!

30% Expo on all, Low Rate on all, approx 60% stick throw on Aileron, 50% stick throws on Elevator. 66Stang, If your learning don't use Rudder, yet. Learn your timing first with straight line rolls down the runway without balloning or loosing alt, then practice half circles - away from you, then towards you. That's not me, but this is excellent technique...work on the timing first. http://www.flyinggiants.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=19477&what=allfields&name=Roll \'nCircles&name=Roll\'nCircles |

I use my lowest rates during rollers. . . Giving percentages is kind of useless because everyone has different throws at 100% ATV, but here's the aproximate angles on the controls: Rudder: 20 degrees each direction, at 70% Expo Elevator: 12 degrees up, 15 degrees down, at 70/50% Expo Aileron: about 22-25 degrees up and down (depending on differential) with 70% Expo And I BREATHE on the aileron, so I could probably drop the throw to about 15 degrees with another notch on the switch, just for rollers.

Question, Why buy high speed servos for$$$ and then slow them down 70% when you can spend less $ and get slower servos and useless expo. Why not learn to fly the center of the stick and have extra stick when you need it? 70 % expo ??? maybe 20% for me. I hate to have to bang the stick when you need throw. Just me.

To put it in perspective . .do a half mile long /35-40 second slow roll at half throttle. . just one. Make it last 40 seconds if you can. For a 4-roll roller, do a 7-10 second slow roll 4 times in a row to get the same feel for how slowly you must roll the plane during a 1-turn roller. YES. . you need low rates, and tons of expo, to keep a smooth, continuous, non-notchy (YES the judges can see the notches) roll going for that long a period of time. As I recall, Jason Shulman was doing mile long slow rolls with the big Pitts S-12 last year at Joe Nall. Even with Jason at the sticks, you could see the notches as the plane started and stopped rolling throughout the length of the manuver. In IMAC, every notch/stoppage/roll rate change is -1 point out of a possible 10 for the maneuver. So, I'm sorry, the bluster about "why why why" does not apply to rolling circles and ultra long slow rolls. that is why we have dual and triple rates, and Expo in our radios. And that is why we USE them.
