Hey beary,

It's great to have you here!!

I hope you are planning to get some instruction before you fly your plane, if not it's a good bet you will be disappointed with the results. I've heard some good things about that plane, though I always recommend something along the lines of an Avistar or Tower trainer.

BTW: I'm going to move this thread to a different forum to give you exposure to more members, not everyone looks in the New to the Giants forum.

Good luck and let us know how your training is going.

Welcome to the Giants!!!

Helloooooooooooooo Barry!

Thanks so much for joining! You will absolutely love it here. A very positive attitude is what its all about! Good luck with the Mustang! Ken said it right on the Avistar or Tower Trainer - I definately woudn't try to learn to fly on that Mustang, they can be tricky. Also, any good flight simulator like Real Flight G3 or similiar will help tremendously in learning to fly. Also find a local club and their flight instructor and they will usually train new people for free once you join the club!

Click on the link below to start searching for clubs in your area!

Anyways, a warm welcome as always! Enjoy the site!

Later..............................Seth

Hi BEARY3 - Welcome aboard to not only the Giants but also to this wild and wacky sport of RC addiction, whoops sorry, flying......

We have two guys here in the club who are flying the Mustang Trainer and love it. It's pretty tame with the forward droops, partial flaps down and the wheel well cover/brakes all on. I think you'll be happy with the plane. I learned on a SIG LT-40, which is another great high wing trainer, but if I had to do it over again after seeing this plane fly, I would have gone with the Mustang

I will second and third what the guys said though, please find a club, and arrange to have someone actually train you to fly. If you don't you more then likely won't have a plane for very long. The computer simulators that are out there are one of the best things you can get to not only get you a lot of stick time but will save you a lot in planes you didn't have to replace due to 'dumb thumbs'. The RealFlight G3 is what I have and I really like it.

To help you find a local club please click on this link, enter you town and state and maybe a 25 mile radius. You will usually be surprised at how many Clubs are out there. http://www.ama-dist-8.org/Clubs/Locator.php Ah crud, I just saw your from up North, so it won't help much. Here is the Canadian version of the AMA, maybe it will help - http://www.maac.ca/index.php If neither of these help, go down into the Clubs, Fields and Orginzations forum and look up my thread on RC Club Coordinates. You might be able to find something close to you that way.

Anyhow, Good Luck and Welcome!!

beary,

I'm considering the same model. It was about a year ago that you purchased yours. I was wondering how the experience was with the P-51 PTS. Thanks in advance for any input.
