Default DA 50 or ZDZ 60???

Hi Guys,

I'm looking into the Dietrich Extra 260 and I'm debating what engine would be best for it. Since it is a little larger I don't know about the DA 50 and 10 hoarses sounds better with the ZDZ 60, but it is a pound heavier.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Sean

I think the zdz 60 isnt a good choice no matter what since the zdz 80 weighs about the same as the 60.

So i would go with the da50 if the weight of the plane approaches 18 pounds go with the zdz 80. In the case of this plane i beleive the plane will be closer to 17 pounds so the da 50 is the proper engine to go with. Of course these are my opinions.

Sean, I recently put a ZDZ 60 in an SD models Yak 54, around 18.5 pounds. Performance has been terrific during the breakin period (22X10 prop), tomorrow I will fly it for the first time with a 24X10 and expect it to be phenomenal. I thought about the ZDZ 80, but am very pleased with my decision.

The engine was difficult to start the first time, but it is getting pretty straightforward now. Once wet, follow the 5-5-1 sequence and she's running. Very pleased with her.

They show 16-18lbs for the airplane. DA 50 will fly it fine at 18 and under.
