Default Some DS on a warm Sunday in CA

Well, the coastal lift was a little too northy on Sunday, so we scrambled up to the top of this mountain in Marin County, CA. Joe Strakowsky wrung out his Mach Dart.

Instead of the surprisingly cold coastal conditions, Joes mountain was shirt-sleeve warm, with as much, if not more wind than we left at the coast. The guys who were DSing got up to 115 mph on radar. My Destiny was able to get to 93 mph coming straight down overhead.

Just a bit of back story...
Joe lives nearby and started flying here a couple of years ago. He kept telling us about the killer lift, so finally he started dragging people up there. The trail he takes can only be described as the "Rubicon". It goes straight up the contour of the hill from the parking lot, about 200 yards. I was dragging my wing bag and my Destiny, while Steve (the guy with the beard) only brought his Weasel. Steve, for 60 years old is in pretty good shape, unlike me, and kept shouting back down the trail "My Weasle only weighs 12 ounces!"...Shaddup you. Put a sock in it...

All in all a great day. We took the "easy" trail down which is a pleasant walk on a single track thats fairly flat and under the trees.

I'll try to post that AVI tonite.

Emo, I bet you can see this hill from Antioch. Its just off of 101 by the Marin Civic Center. Email me if you want to come fly with us. We usually fly by Muir Beach, at a spot called "Tick Point" but we go where the lift is.
