Default 90" Lanier Edge engine question

I recently bought a Lanier Edge for stupidly cheap, new in the box. It is the old discontinued model, but I heard they fly good. I had my heart set on a 3w75, but due to some $$ problems, that may have to wait. I do have a chance to use a 3w60k on it though. Does anyone know if this would be a good combo? Thanks, Mike.

It would be a way under powered. Lanier tends to be a heavier Arf. But they do fly nice. I would deffenitly save your bucks and put a zdz 80 or the da 85 that is coming out. both those engins great power to weight ratios much better than 3w. wich is perfect for 33-35% planes. 60cc just isn't going to have the umff for a plane that size. It would fly but it would fly like a piper cub. Hope this helps.

Hahaha, yea, I don't want an Edge that flies like a cub, that'd suck, LOL... I will keep my eye out for an 80, thank you, Mike.

I had that plane with a 3W70 and a 75. A friend had one with the old style zdz 80. All three flew well but better with the 80. A new style zdz super 80 or 3w 85 would be the best choice, or DA 85 when it comes out. Keep it light, and its a good flying plane.

I snagged myself a ZDZ 80rv for the plane. I think that will do pretty well
