Default Strap them batteries in tight!

Was doing some fast piro's with the swift and pack ejected out the front a good 30-40 feet. It was a lost cause after that. Nothing like busting up three flight old carbon blades.

Similar thing happened at SEFF during a demo, a large scale Cap had two packs parallel, and apparently one pack shifted and unplugged during the flight. Of course the other pack could not supply enough current, so it smoked shortly after the unscheduled landing. Luckily it did not burn up the plane.

Nitro was showing me the 4,000rpm piro rate on that swift when it ejected the pack a good 30 yards from the heli.

Impressive to say the least.

Yeah I was hovering my funtanax 100 and just pulled out when my battery with flying out of the tail of the plane. Full throttle in at a 45. The plane was just destroyed only thing that survived is the wing tube.

Had a Mojo 60 turn into a lawn-dart from about 150 feet when a wire on the battery broke from the vibration my new Saito 100 was creating.

Burried that motor so deep all you could see was a glint from the intake tube.

The only damage to the airframe was where the battery went through the wing leading-edge on impact. Still flying to this day, those Mojos are *tough* and that's just one reason I love profiles :-)

Funny this thread came up when it did. 4 years of flying electrics and I've never had a battery come loose, until last week. I have (had) a Banchee that runs on 3s 4200mAh lipos and the battery is exposed under the wing. I went into an almost full throttle wall with a aileron roll on the upstroke. During the roll the battery said "See Ya", lol, that darn battery must of flown 200 ft, it was like it was shot out of a cannon lol. Well, at least the wing is OK.

Strapping the batteries tight is way over rated. This is what happened to one of my foamies during a blender with a battery that was strapped tight.

Well, I would think you would want to strap the battery to something that is capable of holding it!!!
