| I can't seem to hover without torque rolling. I am full deflection on the ailerons and it still wants to torque. I turned my rates up all the way and I am getting max deflection. I am getting about 45 degrees of deflection on the ailerons. The only way I can hold a steady hover is I have to move forward slightly over the ground at a couple of miles an hour. After a min. of hovering its get to far Any suggestions. I have tried hover full fuel and smoke oil, and then I have tried it with no smoke oil and less fuel and it still seams that when I get completely vertical its wants to torque and I can't stop it. So I let it go around and then try to stop it on the next time around. It will slow but won't stop for me. Thanks for your help. I am flying a Lanier Yak 54 87 " with a 3w-75us engine |

From my experience I would tell you to try a diferent prop, for example I had a 30% AM yak and with a 23 x 8 prop I couldn't do a steady hover because of the torque, then I change to a 22 X 8 and it made such a big difference, you could almost hover without touching the control.

Most planes that I owned have a hard time overcoming the engines torque with ailerons. For me to get a perfectly still hover without torking I need a little wind to lean into.

How close do the ailerons go to the fuse? Seems to me the bigger prop would blow more air over the ailerons to better counter act the torque. Guess not. You might add a washer of up thrust. I have seen that mentioned once or twice. Forget who had the pic but his prop disk was level and his plane was tilted forward. Bad thing about the up thrust is you just screwed up you IMAC trimmed plane. Who did that article??? Pro1 |

hey man I have the same plane and love it. I got a fox 3.2 in it but i made it light. you see that plane has a large cal. and you need to get a longer prop with less pitch. I have a 23-8 on a 55cc engine and it locks in and will not torque at all. also some props will channel you prop wash straight back. this will give you a hard time to hold it still. pk makes a good prop and like I said mine came in at 17 lbs ready to fly. and it acts like a foamy. sealling you hinges if you have not already help mine out a lot so that might help some too.

this is just in my case but here it is. I have a 35% extra 260 and was using a TBM 27x10 wood and changed to PT model carbonfiber 28x8 and man, what a difference. THis thing will hover very easilynow. Before it was unstable wanting to fallout to easy also throttle management is more forgiving and stopping the torque roll is easier
