Default What to do in Denver?

Hi guys, I have a last minute work trip to Denver, Colorado this weekend, I am flying all the way from New Zealand and was wondering if there is anything Aeromodelling / Aviation related that is of interest that may help to pass the weekends? I am supposed to be there for 3 weeks - fly out this weekend (June 10th) and fly back start of July...

Its very last minute - I was only told about the trip today so that gives me one day to get ready. I'm supposed to be designing some roads for a multi million dollar gold mine in Romania, thats all I know about to job so far - I guess I'll find out more when I get there!

Cheers,
Patrick "Moped" Murray

look up Chatfield state park, or jefco. The park is a public park and Jefco is a club that flies there. It is south of Downtown Denver by 20-30 minutes or so. I don't know of too many fields in the Denver metro area, so you will likely have to travel a few miles to see anything. Also, if you have a work day off, look up Aeroworks. They are in Aurora, about 30 minutes away as well. Give them a call first, but their doors are usually open to walk-in modellers, especially out-of-towners.

If you are up for a drive look up a hobby shop called Things With Wings. It is a little ways north of Denver but worth the drive imo!

There is a combat flying event at the Arvada field this weekend, and an IMAC event at Love-Air next weekend. Then June 29th through July 1st is a heli fun fly at Love-Air.

Thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated! I'll look these places up when I get there and see how I go for time. and no... I won't be bringing the moped - she wouldn't fit in my suitcase

I’m in Denver for work with a few months remaining. There’s about a dozen flying fields all within about an hour radius of the Denver area; most are private, though. Chatfield and Cherry Creek state park both have public fields but will cost you $6 to get into the park for the day. I’ve been to a few fields around the Denver area and Chatfield’s is one of the nicest around and that’s where I fly. I plan on flying a couple of days next weekend at Chatfield so if you want to meet up, shoot me a PM.

This weekend, Chatfield's host club is hosting Warbirds over Denver (formerly Warbirds over the Rockies). Last year, we had 82 registered pilots with over 100 airplanes. We start registration Friday the 8th with flying and judging on Sat and Sunday.

None that I have found, at least for giant scale stuff. Aeroworks is in Aurora and they welcome visitors from what I've heard. I've been meaning to take a trip down there myself.

As a side note, I'm most likely heading to Chatfield this afternoon for some flying.

thanks, I might get a chance to go visit them at Aeroworks maybe next weekend?

I'd be keen to go for a look at Chatfield today, but a couple of us Kiwis are gonna go see the baseball game later today. I'm not really a baseball fan but sounds like a lot of fun to go there and enjoy a few beers in the sunshine.

Cheers
