| Stiiiiiiil Huckin'! ![]() | “Radio Active” - Working Hard to promote our Hobby. Radio Active Airshows (formerly Flights Unlimited) was formed over 12 years ago with one mission in mind; introduce the general public to the world of model aviation. Traveling all over the mid-Atlantic region and performing at mainly full scale air shows, we strive to shed light on a hobby that many don’t even know exist. Our primary focus is on the younger generation as well as adults who may not be aware of our great sport. We have found that the biggest potential market is in people who already have an interest in aviation, which is why we get the best results out of performing at full scale air shows. We are fortunate to have a team made up of a group of great people who share a passion of spreading the word about our hobby. We are also fortunate to have a great group of sponsors without who none of this would be possible. To bring people to our display we have two large colorful 48’ trailers with awnings that shelter a static display of model airplanes and helicopters. One of the trailers is used to house the models during transportation; the second trailer houses our new dual flight simulator which gives the public hands on experience of R/C flying using FSOne. The sim trailer features large screens at both ends and a projector system that allows them to experience an actual R/C flight. This is provided to them free of charge, and in a safe, air conditioned environment! While waiting in line to use the simulator the crowd is treated to R/C videos to keep them entertained while they wait. We also have a 30 to 40 minute live show where, in that short period of time, we try to include as many of the varied aircraft that we have. We do this to expose the many different facets of our hobby. These include tandem aerobatics with both helicopters and airplanes, novelty acts which of course is always the crowd favorites, and finally WWII warbirds with pyro. During the show our narrator educates the crowd all about the ins and out's of our hobby and how to plug into our sport. This is followed by 8 to 10 hours of working the general public answering questions and hooking up people into our local club network. Our team has a passion for working with kids to help them get started. When we see one that does very well at the sticks on the simulator we always spend a little extra time, especially with their families, hoping to get them on their way as a new modeler. In the past, when November came around, our display season was closed. Now with the advancement of electrics we are excited to continue our efforts indoors throughout the winter months. We can't wait to work with Kids in our community, visiting their schools and showing them what can be done. Our team is very humble and thankful to be able to do all we are doing, and we are reminded of this every time we see a child’s face light up when they see a 46% Ultimate for the first time! To get to fly with our hero's of the industry is an honor that we don't take lightly. It is so awesome to work shows with Patty Wagstaff, The "Blues", Jim Leroy "Bulldog Airshows" and many others. They have all welcomed us into their family and it is great to work with them and get a hand shake or a hug when we see each other. It's just like the R/C family that we have at different events. Anyway thanks for letting us post this on "Flying Giants"! All of us at Radio Active Airshows just want you to know that even though you don't get to see us very often at R/C events, we are out there working hard spreading the word about our hobby. Fly safe! This is an extremely cool thing they are doing, and a huge thanks to the sponsors that make it possible. I've heard plenty about these guys, but, never had a chance to see them in person. I hope to do that someday, BIG PROPS to Jeff and all the gang!!!

Did you know that, in addition to the capabilities mentioned above, Jeff and company actually hosted the 2005 IMAA Rally in Danville, VA where, from everyone's perspective, they raised the bar for what a "high-end" RC event should look like. Their experience with the full-scale airshow community was put to good use as they brought in vendors and aircraft that really added some high-end "flair" and excitement to the event. And they were also a big part of our own 2006 RDRC Fly For Tots in Raleigh, NC, where their simulation trailer was a centerpiece of activity for the spectators and pilots alike. We certainly hope that they can join us again this year on Sept. 15-16 as this event is building to be bigger and better than ever! Clear that calender, Jeff. And keep up the good work!

Hey Guys, I'm a proud member of Radio Active Airshows, this is my frst year with them. Although I have known them for three years, they have been instrumental in my involvement with RC flying. My wonderful wife and son are also involved with the team and are learning to fly as well. Thanks to all of our sponsors and Flying Giants. Hope we all can meet in the future. ![]() Thanks, Chris
