Default FG HELP BUYING A CAR

ok guys, some of you have seen my thread in the past talking about which car to get and as of now i have two main choices, the nissan 300zx or the nissan 240sx. its coming down to the last few days of my decision and i need your help with my first car. btw...insurance is not an issue!

ok the 240 sx is a 96 with 106000 miles on it

PROS
  • owned by a friend and driven by a woman
  • cheap at $5500
  • new tires, plugs timing belt and clutch
  • has an apexi exhaust, injen cold air intake, two 10" subs
CONS
  • not much has been replaced
  • high miles
  • a few scratchs on hood
the 300zx is a 93 with 125000 miles on the chassis and about 11000 miles on a either rebuilt or new motor

PROS
  • looks bad ass
  • owned by brother in law who blew the motor and his brother is a toyota certified ase mechanic who did the motor
  • leather seats
  • has rims, bazooka sub, head unit, radar, push button ignition (cool beans)
  • has had the motor, clutch, water pump, radiator, alternator replaced
CONS
  • needs a new windshield, driver side window, p/s pump and may be a few others
  • it costs $8000 plus another 400-1000 to md inspect and pass the car
  • a/c works but not well
  • older car
  • even thought the motor is new it did have a blown motor from burnouts and doughtnuts
either car is a 16 y.o's dream car to have as there first car but which one would you choose and why? please i need your help im so confused on which one to get

neither, get something practical and that will hold up better, not someone else's tinkered car that you'll regret because you'll be throwing money into it every month!

wow quick replys, the problem is i search the dealerships in the area and not one had a car i liked in my price range. im also from md so if i wanted to get a car from VA i would have to buy it first and then re-inspect it and VA's inspection is not as tough as the MD isspection and i dont want that risk. these two cars are both owned by ppl i know who both can help fix if it breaks down. also, my family has a minivan that i use to haul planes and lawnmower in!

The 240 is less potential drama. The 300 will be more expensive to repair when it needs work, and it sounds beat.

5500 is way too much for a 11 year old car with 106k. They may say firm but cash will make people squirm. I'm talking about putting green in his hand, let him smell it. If it pisses him off, then you aint lost anything.
