Default Honest Opinion -- the name is not cirkus style

First off, the sweet things... great look, and awesome to see everyone here... for the most part.
I will visit often, like I did for the Cirkus, and can't wait to see some content build up to become the ARCHIVE like we had at FC. You... everyone that is... are an awesome crew.

On the other side of the coin comes a few honest opinions.
I don't care about the reasons for the change (but it appears to entail some drama). My only observation is the name.

It is GAY sounding. Opinion only, but comes off as really weak. Not cool. Since it won't change, I suppose I will have to deal with it, but my goodness....

Max and Biff, you are two pimpin' great guys and I appreciate all your hard work. I look forward to seeing some amazing things and for sure I will still have this site at my home page. Keep up the cool.

the name is lame but its good that it still has the same feeling and "vibe". I hope it stays that way because that is what made the cirkus the "cirkus". After all whats is a name? only what you put into it.

HERES THE gig... I never SAID this before.
The first time I found the flying cirkus I THOUGHT THAT NAME WAS GAY.

Too much like "The Flamming Cirkus" but about 2 weeks after I was eyeballing the site, the name became cooler as I associated it with the Group of people involved and whole organization.

Buy the summer I was FULL ON CIRKUS DUDE...promoting the site to old ladies buying vegatables at supermarkets.

So I think its just a matter of time before it grows on everyone.

I mean if ya flip it... it has a HUGE meaning.. "The Giants of Flying"
That's a pretty ballsie statement.... and that my friends carries "Cirkus" style with it!!

I have to agree with Viper. I have visited the Cirkus since it was a video page linked to DOD. This feels more like a divorce than a good "VIBE" or what ever you want to call it. I think the place looks good, but there is a story that needs to be told, and I think you owe us that. You can call a pile of BS what ever you want, but it still smells the same.

The flying cirkus vibe is still intact, because only yesterday it was still called flying cirkus.... new members came along over the years, and saw this cool place to hang out out and talk r/c, called the flying cirkus. The name is what got my attention, then once inside cool people were all around. But like i said, the first attraction was the name, of course, as that is the first thing anyone finds out first. So, while the cirkus vibe still exists, it probably will fade because of the name change. New members will certainly join, but that "off the cuff" first impression that was once there will not be for the new guys. Will the flying giants be a great place? absolutely, but it will not be "cirkus style", it will be "giants style" at best. Is that a bad thing? no, I dont think so, it will just be different is all.
Hey guys, nothing lasts forever, people die, ideas die, heck, the planet wont even be here forever. I think this r/c community that was created by Max and company is great, and it will certainly go through changes over its lifespan, wouldnt it be kind of lame if it never changed?
Yeah, some weirdness obviously happened that no one wants to mention. I probably wouldn't be wanting to mention a soap opera to thousands of members either.

yep man the story needs to be told. I just wish we had been told it was going to happen.
hopefully it will be all sorted out then maybe the cirkus vibe can go on

Angry Re: Honest Opinion -- the name is not cirkus style

Too bad the site operator didn't ask for input from the members on the new name.Could have been " The huckin' Crew" or "Straight Huckin'" or something.Giants just describes one type of aircraft.Large and scale like a war bird. What about all the foamy Hucker's,and mid sized hucker's.I agree the name is lame and sounds like a gay baseball team.

It would have been nice to transfer all the archives as well.Where did they all go?

Just my opinion... I will still visit the site though.

The name "Flying Giants" has nothing specifically to do with giant scale - it has to do with going BIG, throwin' it down, takin' it to the limit, etc. Guaranteed, this site is intended to bring all classes of r/c flyers, not just giant scale, that share a MAD love for this hobby and fly with a purpose - to chalenge their individual abilities, or at least nerves, on every flight...Giant style!

To be honest.. calling the name 'gay' isn't Cirkus style either. I hate to be the PC police.. but kindly drop that sort of talk..

Besides.. they COULD have used my name suggestion..

SHAKERWORLD!

Seriously though guys.. it's just a name.. what matters is the attitude and ideals behind it.
