Hi everyone I'm deady to make the leap from 50 to 90 size heli's. I really like what the TT heli's offer and now I'm looking to all you guys to tell me about the differences between the 2. Is the SE really worth double the std in $$$$? Can't I just upgrade the Std ? Thanks

You could upgrade the STD to an SE, but it will end up costing you a bunch more than just picking up the SE kit from the beginning. Personally, I would go for an SE to start and then if you crash and don't want to pay for some of the expensive bits, you can just replace them with items from the STD kit. (Aluminum boom and the aluminum TT for example) A great new option between the two is the Raptor 90 3D kit which should be listed on the www.acehobby.com website. I realize you are not in the US, but this site should give you a good idea of what is contained in each kit.

The SE is bling bling right out of the box, If you crash it, your wallet is going to be blinged out in till it's empty. I went from flying a R60 to a Vigor CS, it did fly better but when I stuffed it, it cost so much to fix I never had the balls to fly it DOD, For me that's is what it's all about! Do your self a favor and get a R 90 ST and buy a few metal head parts and call it good. Spend the money on Fuel, if your crash your 90 ST is only going to cost a few more bucks than your 50.

I'd reccomend a lightly upgraded Standard. The standard has a lot of plastic where the se has metal, and in turn it's a LOT lighter. I would only upgrade the heablock, and the upper mixers. I reccomend the Gforce head block, as well as their mixing arms. The arms allow me to get 16 degree's of collective when maxed out, and the head block has an oring dampening system which eliminates any of the typical raptor wobble. On mine the headblock was notably smoother than the stock one with infinivation damopeners. I also did a bit of work to lighten mine up a bit too. Take off all the washers on the frame screws, except the engine mount, and the bearing blocks for the main shaft. I also cut up the motor mount so it is just the 2 side rails, with no center brace. Doing that saves an ounce alone. Carbon frames are good too, but will only lighten it up, so no major performance increase like the mixers will give you. My current R90 is exactly 10.5 pounds, which is pretty light for this heli. The se's tend to come in around 11 to 11.5 pounds.

I just sold my 90 and went back to a 50. A 90 will drink a Gallon of fule much faster. And I just cant aford all my toys and the extra fule cost. I think a 50 size is the best bang for the buck

Absolutely no question the 50 size is the best bang for the buck. If I had a large airplane as well as heli's I go 50 as well.
