Default New to Gassers - Want to build around a DA-50

I've been flying for about 2yrs now and It's time to move on up. I've started saving up to go BIG! I'm looking for a good 3D platform I really want all the performance I can get out of the DA-50. I'm ready to really tear it up! My original plan was a H9 Extra 260 w/ the DA but after reading more and more I've noticed most don't like this combo because of the wing loading. So now I don't really know where to go I REALLY like the look of the WH Extra 300 and of course the price. I'm not a big fan of Edge's so haven't really been looking for any of those. What would you guys suggest for a DA-50. And an Arf in the 5-600 range.(give or take) I'd really not like to go much higher then 600 but at the same time I'm not in a huge hurry so I'll probably be saving for a while. I'll consider anything if the price and performance is right those are just a few of my preferences.

I've also got a friend that I need to talk to that may have a Yak54 (Found at the bottom of this page) for sale complete and ready to go minus RX. I've just got to find out what his asking price is. Last I heard I believe it was right around $1k

I appreciate the help and can't wait to learn from you guys

I fly 50cc, I had the AW Yak 54, it flew very well but built a bit heavier than some other models, I have also owned a poweline models yak (league models in china), it also flew well but weighed in the same as the AW (DA 50R, Hitec 5955's all around, three TB 2600 Li-Ion's, three MPI miracle swithces, Dubro 24 oz fuel tank, stock gear, both came in right at 18 lbs dry). My next plane will be the SD Models Yak 54, they can come in around 16.5 to 17 dry with a smoker system. They fly great, 3D like mad and are a bit cheaper than most of the crowd (all the new versions are "high performance", basically like the QB of the Aeroworks, no hinging, no canopy installation, and comes with CF wingtube. Best 50cc for the money IMO.

Hey Main Gears, Your not that far from me. I like to make my way up to disney at times to go play on the rocks a bit. Maybe sometime I could make a visit to your field if I make it that way!

Just checked out the SD site the yaks do look pretty good. That was another thing I forgot to mention, I'd like to be able to add smoke at some point so I'd like to find something big enough to handle the extra weight.

Also won't be buying any kind of transport so this has to be able to fit in the jeep.

We would be glad to have you! Come on up and fly with us, our club is having a fly in on Sept. 22nd. $5 landing fee and lunch available, or just come up some time and burn some fuel with us. Whichever way you go with the new airframe, just make sure it is what makes you happy, most of the extras and edges are kind of on the small side of the 50cc market, wildhare makes an 84" i think, that would be ok, but alot of them are barely 80", kinda high wingloading for all out hucking i think. Not that they wont do it, just not as fun as the lighter loadings of the yaks, etc. PM me if you get to head this way to fly with us, I will give you directions to the field.

Yea, a few have Mentioned the WH Extra. I've checked it out a little and really like the look and size of it. It's not to hard on the wallet and still i decent size. As of right now this is the top of my list unless some amazing deal comes up this will probably be the direction I go.

Poke: Check out the Fiberlite Edge 540. It is very, very light and flies like a dream.

I would vote for the SD yak it it is a 3D machine and it goes for $500 at TBM.

Have you looked thru the Swap Shops here and at RCU? I found my tricked out DA-50 powered gasser for a great price and it was already fully assembled (Better than ARF).
.
.
I've already talked to DA, and the warranty goes with the engine, not the original purchaser, so if you buy a used plane, the warranty on the engine is still good. . .
