OMG! Ornithopters are officially cool!

After all those years of giving the Ornithopter crew a hard time, it looks like technology has finally shined it's light on this sector of the hobby! Check this out. The folks at Festo, a German company that makes all kinds of uber cool toys, came up with this puppy. A super advanced, flapping wing, neutrally buoyant, flying... silver thing! I guess it qualifies as a blimp, and as you know well, we'll cover anything that resembles a blimp here on FlyingGiants.

The "Airray" closely resembles a the mysterious Manta Ray of the sea, and can fly around huge German corporate office lobby's with grace. While we don't have too much info on what makes this baby tick, but we're pretty sure wind is it's enemy. Either way, pretty cool stuff!! Check out the video after the jump.

Neutral buoyancy certainly opens up the possibilities. It actually gives the appearance of swimming in water
