Default which engine

Hey guys.

I'm working on another 30% plane(AM Yak 54), and I'm on a serious budget with this one. I need to keep the cost of this one down, so I'm going with a cheaper priced engine. I'm a little torn between the DL-50, and the 3MM TOC 53. I can use a header and canister from a da50 on the DL, so that's a plus, but the 3MM looks like a nice engine too. So, let's hear it. What's a better choice...better engine?

Also, I have a few extra Hitec 5625MG servos on hand. Would they be ok for a plane of this size for the ailerons and elevators? They meet the requirements as per the manual, but just barely.

Later,

Chris

I had one of the 3mm 53cc engines on an SD Models 30% yak, and loved it. The engine started very easily and idled very reliably. It swung a 23A Vess prop that enabled it to hover at about 1/4 throttle. Pull out was not ballistic, but it was acceptable and would pull out from any attitude. I haven't run the DL, but the 3mm is a great choice.

Myself I have not owned either engine. However, from the reports I have read the DL would seem to have the slight edge in RPM etc. Either engine can be had very cheap.

Other options are the new BME 50cc engine - made of chinese parts here in the USA. Supposed to have really similar numbers to the DL.

On the high end of things is the 366GT by Brilelli. Its much more powerful than either of the above mentioned motors, but at a cost of nearly double!

In the end its sad that I paid the same amount of money for a Saito 180 or Moki 2.10 when I could have gotten eiher the DL or 3mm It is great to see all the choices available to us now though. I have owned several DA 50's and would find it very hard to dish out that kinda money when either the DL or 3mm work just as well if not better.

dude those 5625 are not good enough - problem is that they are very fast but you need minimum5645's and the engine.....I will rather wait to buy the branded ones - DA/ZDZ/MVVS/3W thats it

I found the DL @ $370 w/ mufflers. So I guess that would be the cheapest? So how much more power does the Dl have over the others ?
