OK Guys, I think I've narrowed it down to either the Airwild Extra or the Extreme Flight Yak. I just bought 5 Hitec 5955 Servos to go in to one of them. So now I need to pick the bird. Also thinking between the Toc 3mm, Da50 or the DL50. I've never owned a gasser, but fly big glow Mokis. On the Yak side of things it's been hard to decide between Aeroworks, QQ & EF Yak. All opinions welcomed... Rather do it right the first time. |

I normally don't comment if I have not flown both the planes you have in question, but I will make an exception on this one. One of our club members had one at the club this past weekend and he let me fly it (WOW). I don't see how anything could fly any better. My ride is a Comp-Arf Extra 300 and there's no comparison in the 3D dept.

I had a yak 54QQ 85" and since 2 weeks i fly with the Extra 260 Air Wild with a DL50, there is a big difference between the 2 planes. The AW 260 is light very light and the fly pattern is different from the Yak, the yak is more 3D than the 260 which is more IMAC. The 260 is faster than the yak and has more precision. The DL50 is full power, before i had a ZDZ50NG and result is that DL50 is absolutly great, start at first try, during break in 6900 trs/min with Menz 22X8.

I used to fly a H9260 on a Moki 2.1 and jumped to 35% AW260. Only uses 5 5955.... one per aileron inboard. I purchased a used 100cc engine and she is airborne. Go big if you can ![]() Otherwise I would recommend the EF 88in Yak... just look at the videos awesome inverted harriers, KE, huge power on a DL50 and pics (beautiful). In my opinion my decision really!

My opinion is spend a bit more and get a 33-35% with a DA 85. You can get away with the same number of servos (5 8711 or 5955 etc), same battery power (3 2600 Lithium Ions so the only additional cost is the DA 85 over the DA 50 and the airframe will be a few hundred more. Based on what I've seen flying in this category, I'd probably go for the H9 33% Cap. Also, consider the SD models 33% Yak.

If you decide to stay in the 50cc size I would stick with the DA, even though I havent had the best of luck with mine, at least you get good customer service that is going to be a bit harder to find with some of these newer "china" engines. I owned the AW 28% Yak 54 and it flew great, very clean. However, the landing gear block is only slightly better than laminated cardboard, the overall weight is a couple pounds too much (compared to other 28 and 30% yaks), and the fuse has a weak point just behind the canopy that needs attention before flying hard. If you reinforce the gear block and the fuse it will be fine (still heavy tho, DA 50, 5955's throughout, 3 - 2 cell li-ions with miracle switches it weighed 18.2 lbs dry). My next yak will either be the EF or the SD Models (if I can get one, they sell through Thunder Tiger now). Just my 2 cents. The other guys are right tho, if you can afford it and can haul it, just go bigger.
