Default Hello all, DFW area :)

Hey guys!

Thought I'd drop in and introduce myself. I just now found Flying Giants and have read (with my jaw dropping every 30 seconds) several articles on the front page. I said I've GOT to join this madhouse!

I'm from Grapevine, Tx between Dallas and Ft. Worth and belong to the 114th Rc Aero Squadron; I've been flying for about 13 years (I'm 23 now) but have always had small glow planes, and recently gotten into electrics. I'm about to make the jump into gas planes, hopefully with a friend's 1/3 scale Pitts Special that he's selling cheap...

I think I'll enjoy it here

Joel, Welcome to the Giants family. It sounds like you have already started to look around some. The Leading Edge articles from the front page are all archived. They can be access from "News Archives" on the menu bar on each page. The leading edge articles are written by our staff and our members. You will find everything from new product releases to Build articles that almost seam like they belong on some Monster type TV show.

Dangerous Dan already mentioned the Photos and Videos. Again they are from our members and also our staff. The Big Events galleries have hundreds of photos from each event some have over 1,000 photos from a single large event.

The real heart of the Flying Giants is our forums. There is more information in the over 300,000 posts than you could find in years of magazines. The member here range from new pilots to pilots with years of experience. There are member that you will see competition in some of the largest contests in the world. There are full size pilots, mechanics, and even aerospace engineers as members. We even have active members that are full scale air show pilots.

One thing to remember, the Flying Giants isn't just about giant scale, there is something for everyone. Flying Giants is more about attitude. We have a good time leave the BS at the door and fly for fun.

Again Welcome to the Giants

Thanks for the welcome! (much more than I expected!)

I've already learned quite a bit while simply browsing for a half hour. I'm very impressed with some of the projects, planes, members, stories, etc.. not to mention the videos and pictures!

I'm looking to get into competition at some point, but that could be a long way off. I see some of these guys flying and I start thinking I don't have much chance

Looks like I'll stay in the Novice class for the next few years!
