On October 4th, I'm moving from London to New York and want to get up and flying again fast. In the UK I have insurance through the BMFA. What's the deal in the US, do I join the AMA and get insurance through that? Here you need to be BMFA registered to join a club, so guessing you have the same. Now to the fun bit. I've been flying a comp-arf 3m extra 260 with a DA150 on Greves pipes. I've had to sell it as shipping is not an option, so I'm looking to replace it. Any of you fellas have any feedback on how the comp-arf MX2 and new 3m Yak match up? The 260 gave a good balance of precision and 3d but I could take a more aggressive 3d aeroplane!! Any thoughts on other planes that will do the job? Flown lots of comp arf gear so I know what I'm getting but willing to try other brands. Maybe a Krill Katana? Also, anyone able to recommend a comp arf rep around New York city area? Cheers, Andrew |

Hi Andrew, First Welcome to the FlyingGiants. We are glad to have you here. On the insurance yes AMA does provide you with liability insurance. Most clubs do require AMA membership, and almost all events require pilots to be AMA members. You can find information on AMA here http://www.modelaircraft.org/ About the plane choice, I will let others give their opinions and reps in the New York area. They will be able to give you more first hand experience than I can.
