Default My new 50cc Bird.

Well I got a deal on a 50cc Cap 232 I couldn't pass on. The airframe is a new built kit, with foam core wings. Wingspan is 83 or 84" Has a new DA50 and some small stuff done. Will need links and electrical to finish. Just got Hitec 5955 Servos for all surfaces. Plane looks like it will be about 16.5 to 17lbs. Should be OK for first gasser.

Nice bird.
Here one thing I reciently found out about caps.
People always say they are snap happy... but if you set them up properly they won't be.
I just got a 40% carden Cap, and believe it or not, my High rate (not 3D) eleavator throw is about 14 degrees, and the low throw is around 8 degrees. It actually looks like you almost have no movement, but its PLENTY. So make sure on the maiden you start off with some nice LOW rates, and you should have a nice flying bird!
Good luck!

Sleepy, you are so right. I noticed the same thing on my 40% Carden Cap. The elevator has tons of authority.

BTW, very nice Cap. That thing looks great. Let us know how it flies. Who makes this one? It is the best looking Cap I have seen in this size. I am very impressed. Can you post some pics of under the hood?

I will take some more pic's in a bit. I'm going to clean my shop, then start a new mess. As for who makes this bird, I'm hoping one of you guys can help me find out. It has an 83" wingspan and it is a kit. That was built by JC RC Planes. (Anyone know this guy?) The wings are foam core balsa sheeted. Did lanier have a built up wing or foam core. If it wasn't for the foam core wings, i would have thought it to be a Lanier. Any thoughts?

My first guess was going to be Lanier. I looked around a bit and could not confirm.
Not too many manuf. mess with foam wings- yet I believe foam core to be superior for durability.

The tail wheel is a unique feature-yet many people will after market that item.
I personally would still use that as one of the items to assist in the conformation of whom manuf. the kit. Any idea of the age of the kit? Could this have been stowed away in a closet a while?

It sounds like a real winner! Good luck with er'.

Jaguar bone,
I beleive it has been around for at least 3 years. Just finished and waiting for some use. Did Carden ever make a small cap? The wings have me fooled here.

Well I'm 99% sure it's a Lanier Kit. I found that they do have foam core wings. I don't know why I keep measuring 83" on my wings and the Lanier kit say 81".. But it's gotta be a Lenier kit.

Either way... you have one sick looking ride for a 50cc Cap. Make sure you post some video. My buddies Chip Hyde Cap-X is probably the nicest plane I have flown and it harriers all day long with just up elevator. Amazing how Caps don't wing rock and I could steer his in harrier just using rudder and no counter aileron in the turns.

Thanks for the kind words on the plane. I almost passed it up.. It's been sit'n at a buddies house for a few years.. It just looked like it needed to be finished and flown.
