Pack it up folks, time to hit the bricks and look for something else to do with our free time. Today marks the day we have see the epoc of modeling greatness, and it's gotta all be down hill from here! We interrupt our coverage of the 2007 Tucson Shootout with this unbelievable find. Looks like some rocket enthusiasts have been wrenching on something absolutely insane, and are about to fly a... Heck, I dunno, 100% scale Star Wars X-Wing! OMG. This thing is nuts! Cram packed with solid rocket JATO powered goodnesss, speed controllers, motors, and at a length of 21 feet long, a group of modelers in Santee California are about to make history of sorts. The rocket powered X-Wing will have a fully functional "X" wing (duh) that will be able to change from the flat airfoil into full on death star attack mode X shaped goodness! Oh yeah, complete with R2-D2. I'm not going to steal the thunder here, and quite frankly there is a long tale to tell about this baby - BUT there is a very cool website that has been put together to document her journey thus far. Check it out! http://www.polecataerospace.com/X-Wing.htm I love these guys! The maiden will occur this week on the 6th in Plaster City, CA. If any FG members are in the area, please check it out and post the flight! Shootout coverage will resume Wednesday morning with the first rounds! Stay tuned for scores and photo flood! Best-- Max
