So I have about 50 minutes of film of an airplane on this sweet new DVi camcorder. The video quality is awesome and it is all uploaded to the computer. I went out and spent $80 on Adobe Premier elements 4.0. Apparently, adobe owned the video editing market with the aformentioned 3.0 and now I have the new, slightly updated/expanded version that is supposedly the best. I want to make a video with title pages, I want to have text on the video. I want to blur out license plates. I want to do time-laps. I want to add around 6 tracks of music, mostly from itunes. I want to use slow and fast motion, and I want to be able to cut and edit the music and video captures that I have imported. I hope the program can do this, but the problem is, is that I don't have any time to sit down and figure it out with my fingers.... Any one know of a good book at the library, or a tutorial on youtube or some other site. Will the program be able to handle MP4 music files? What are some video editing tips that you would recommend for a beginner? What have you done in the past? Last edited by Stainless Skills; 02-21-2008 at 09:32 PM. |

I've played with a previous version of Premier, and really, the best way to figure it out is to sit down and play with it for a while. I googled for a tutorial and found this: http://www.animationsforvideo.com/ht...nts_tutori.htm but really, you might use a tutorial to get the basics, then the most effective way of learning is to play with it. If you're really in a pinch, you might try Windows Movie Maker, which is very basic but can make a decent video if you use something other than the default title screens and a little taste.

Adobe Premiere is a powerful piece of software with lots of cool features. If you don't have the time to sit down and play with it then the best thing to do is google some tutorials (as mentioned above) or pick up the "dummies guide" which is always a good starting place with an unknown piece of software. The biggest thing is to not get discouraged while trying to figure stuff out, just keep at it and you will get it.

John, I use Adobe Premier Elements and I think it's a pretty decent program. It will do everything on your wish list. The following link is to a page on my website where I have some videos which were all created on this program. Feel free to send me an e-mail through my site if there is anything specific that I can help you with. Stan Berger http://www.stansphotos.com/Videos%20New.htm |
