| Flyin' Around ![]() | Hi All (hope it's okay to write here as a dealer) I'm reciving my first shipment from QQ to my shop one of the next days. One of the planes that I'm reciving is the 102" Yak and I'm planing to build it as a demo plane with 3W 106. But I was thinking what about the new 85Xi, it has almoast the same power as a DA 100, but the plane will be around 1 kg (2 lbs I think).... lighter engine, only one muffler. Does any of you have any input regarding this or has it been tryed? Excellentmodels.dk Mick |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | It can be done, and power will be good if you keep the rest of it light. On the first version of that Yak, it was a bit challenging to get it to balance with the lighter engines, but still doable. I don't know about the newer versions. |

| Flyin' Around ![]() | Thanks for your input boys. It's right, there is a lot of issues to consider to make this conversion and the big quistion will it be worth it. I think that the right way to do it is to make som CG calculations in excel before doing anything and if the calculations says okay, then I think that the biggest problem is to find a muffler that is narrow enough to fit the canister tunnel in the plane. I actually think that I will put in the 3W 106, I'm sure that it will make a great flying plane if it flies half as good as the 86". I can always make the conversion to the 3W 85 if I feel like it will make it fly better. Again thanks for input, always a lot of things to consider.... |
