Looking for a club or anybody that flies in the lower Florida Keys

Hi all, I live on Summerland Key and I'm looking for some folks that fly in the area.

Do you fly in the Summerland Key area? I go to the keys at least once/year, and would love to take soemthing to fly....just don't know where to fly :-)

There's a bunch of Navy guys that fly down there, I think on Boca Chica or Key West, I can see if I can find thier contact info if you like.

I found a group of guys, they fly at the Coast Guard base in Key West next to the old hanger on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Hi, where on Summerland Key are you ?? I moved off summerland Key in 04, on airport drive N, on the strip. I flew off the air strip when all the rich butt holes went up north for the summer, they hated that but nothing they could do. I was the only one flying that I knew of , I had herd of the guys flying at the base in Key West but never found anyone. Also flew way out back on Big Torch off the road, they see about 3 cars a week back there. There is no flying at Boca Chica(Rockland Key)
There is a field in Florida city back by the prision but you need to speak spanish and I don't.
Flying in the Keys was drag with no hobby shops, the one in Key west had nothing but car crap, The hobby shop in tavernier was ok as far as the keys go but he to had to order just about everything, I used Tower for most of my stuff.

Good luck down there, if you find 5 guys that fly you would be lucky.

Do you know Skip and Ginney ???? they live across the canal behind Dions, he is retired CG and worked at the blimp site, He did not know of any guys flying at the base so I gave up and did my own thing, I never herd any crap from the locals when flying off the strip, only the snowbirds when they came down.

Yep, thats them. My bud says its windy all the time.

I live on Airport Dr S. Luckily Carl the guy that lives at the end of Airport Dr N that has the twin engine Cessna came by one day and told me just be careful, and look out for any aircraft coming in. So I fly right out in front of my house all the time now. I only fly my smaller electric's out there, I'm in the process of finding a trailer to haul my gasser's down to the CG base to fly.

It's not to bad during Spring and Summer, it's stay's pretty windy during the rest of the year though. The bad thing about the area they fly at on the base is it's right on the open water, so the wind is unrestricted.
