Help! newcomer to heli scene with king2

Hey there, im absolutly new to the rc helicopter scene, never flown one other than the stupid little 20.00$ mini copters that cant even go forward haha. I've ordered a honey bee king 2 and have been reading that the stock battery/engine arent too exciting, been looking around on ebay and xheli.com for better stuff but in all honesty have no idea what to grab, can my honey bee use any size 11.1v battery? or does it have to be a special kind? and how can i tell what engines can fit/are most powerful? and if all of these are vague questions do you know where a good beginners heli manual is? just to get the rundown on all the terms?

I am new to Heli's as well. I just purchased an Esky Belt CP and have been flying Clear views simulator. The real thing is a lot different. I am going on my second set of blades trying to hover. I just ordered 3 more. It is frustrating but I am hoping to get things going soon. I wish I can give you more advice but all I can say is stay focused you can get frustrated very easy especially purchasing parts. Most hobby stores only carry certain types and you to have order online which takes a couple days. I think it will be worth it once you finally get it up in the air.

i have a stock belt cp,, it flys great, i wouldnt try any hard 3d with it, but for a learner CP it worked great as it was my first chopper, the king2 is very similar in fact some parts interchange,, www.helidirect.com has all the aprts you need, and great upgrades, the only thing i dont like about the esky stuff is the rotor heads isnt very stiff, but for learning it wil do the job,, heres a vid of my cp,
Belt CP video finally
if i can be any help let me know
mike
ps im putting mine in a airwolf body in a week hehe

Thanks for the info. I am totally new to the RC Heli thing. This Belt CP is my first Heli. I am still trying to learn how to hover. I thought it would be easier than it is. My heli starts to drift left and I know it’s supposed to do this but I have not learned how to compensate I guess for fear of crashing which I know will happen. I am going on my 3rd set of blades because of flipping my Heli when overcompensating. I will be happy to see the day when I finally get this thing in the air.

Should of bought an AXE Cp. My first heli in 7 years. Flies great. I've got the stock motor in it with 3 batteries. 1000mah lipo 1250 lipo both give me about 15-20 min flight. Then the stock battery lasts about 5-10 min.

get some trex training gear for it, it saved my blades many times. iv had mine for a year and iv been off the trainers for about a month , the drifting will happen, haven the training gear helps to dial it in if you have a smooth floor to work on since you can spool up just enough right before lift off, and trim it to stay in one place,, tho i usually have to hold in left rudder and right cyclic tohold a hover. the belt IMO is better then the axe in the fact is has a real belt drive tail rotor, not the motor type , this gives it the same set up as a bigger chopper and its very smooth and fast reacting.. best of luck,,

I have a large training gear. I learned that it will be easier to learn on a smooth surface as far as drifting is concerend. Nothing for the training gear to catch causing it to flip which is what happened to me. As soon as my new blades get in I will give you a status check. Thanks a lot for the info

Guys, All good questions...

Stick around in the next couple of weeks, I'll be finishing an article with the ALIGN TREX 600N. It will encompass the basics of heli mechanics, and some basic setting up and flying techniques. Should be a good break in for the guys who want to get gutzie and give the rotory a whirl. As some of you know, I have 26 years of fixed wing, and 2 years ago, I sold all my airplane stuff to go all heli. The only fixed wing stuff I have left are my sailplanes. I love the helis, have become a proficient 3D pilot, and am enjoying the ease of fuel & fly. Keep an eye out, its coming !
