Default Using someone's covering design?

I just had a question in regards to using someone's covering design. I'm building my first kit so I'm not sure on this topic. Like can I use someone else's design on their plane or a manufactures' covering scheme and just cover my aircraft the same way, or is there any written permission needed to be had before I can do something like that?
Thanks

Nope....hack away. I'm pretty good with the iron but I can't design a scheme to save my soul. I'm glad I can steel other people's ideas.

Some people ask if its alright if its another person's scheme. Most people won't have a problem with it. If they do have a problem with it there isn't much that they can do if you cover yours the same way anyway.

Nice thing to do........let the person know. Most of the time they may have more schemes in the back pocket they might share as well.

If its a manufacturer you can let them know or not.

But no "law" on design

I usually try and change the colors at least. Then it makes my plane different than the designers as well.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but I also wouldn't want to use anyone else's scheme. I like my plane to be unique.

If it's just for your personal use, and not for production, then you can pretty much do whatever you want to.

If you're copying a pro pilot's competition scheme, it might be nice to ask their permission. Most of them are great guys who will not only say yes, but are happy to help and you might make a new friend.

If you get one of the (very) rare jerks who gets pissed and say no, aren't you glad you found out before you put that *hole's color scheme on your new airplane?

dude cover it any way you want to. if you see something you like then use it. you dont have to ask anybody anything. you dont have to ask permission to use any scheme, and or colors or nothing. have a great time and dont give it a second thought. dont worry about what anybody says. you can cover it any way you like. and you can put any stickers on it you want to. have fun and enjoy it. its your plane do it how you want

your avatar would indicate otherwise. If you fly an arf, you're using someone elses sceme along with thousands of others with the same aircraft. I'm not saying that's bad as I fly arfs, just stating an observation. There's nothing wrong with using someone elses design. If you like it, use it!

I consider it a compliment if someone likes your design enough to want to use it on their plane. I have been asked about using my scheme and it was really a nice thing to be asked about it.

I used Wayne's scheme on a plane- it is so clean and pleasing to the eye. Oh, while I'm at it, Wayne, do you mind if I use your scheme?
