Lawsuits by Predatory Lawyer

Not sure if everyone is aware, but there is a lawyer in Del Mar, CA who has been suing various modeling companies over the use of the label "Made in USA". He is taking advantage of a law here in Cali to get rich and sue companies like Horizon, Thunder Power, castle Creations, etc.

He finds plaintiffs and then sues. The guy who owns Dymond Models in San Diego sued Thunder power and Castle. Some Dude named Eric Hoffman sued Horizon. I have no idea how many other suits are pending.

The bottom line is that the plaintiff gets ~ $2,000, the "winners" (that's US!!) get discount rebate coupons and guess what?? The lawyer gets around $1000,000.

I love America.

The Winners????? In all reality, we are the losers in any lawsuit of this nature. We lose because of increased prices in the future. The idea that a law suit against a large corporation is victimless is very short sided. In the end everyone pays. It is that type of thinking that has caused a lot of the inflation and products no longer being made in the US.

In these cases the only winners are the laywers. Yes the original plaintiff may get around 2K but the corporation loses a couple mil. Those loses get passed to us.

Idiots like that and ambulance chasers are what give lawyers a bad name. One of the core things that is wrong with this country, people feel that they are entitled to something and dont feel that they have to work to earn it.

It is things like this that make me hate lawyers. When my daughter was in high school she told me that she was thinking about becoming a lawyer. I told her that if she did, I would have to tell people that she was a stripper or a hooker, I would be to embarrassed to tell people that she was a lawyer.

There have been a number of times that I have received letters that I was part of a class action suit. Every time I have refused the offer with the explanation that I refused to be a part of the problem in the current legal system.
